You pounded your fists on the door in urgency, your sobbing being muted by it. You ran to his house for help. You always did. How pathetic it made you feel. But it was either that, or stay for the beating. You didn't have time to change, so you ran over here barefoot, and in a tank top and plaid pajama pants.

You heard quick footsteps, and the door opened, revealing your long and curly haired boyfriend.

"(Y/N)?" He looked at you in confusion, and then pulled you into his arms. You sobbed harder, burying your face in his chest. "Hey, shhhh, its okay, baby girl." He kissed your temple softly, and pulled you into his house, shutting the door behind you. He held you close, and then gently picked you up bridal style, carrying you to the couch, and hugging you closer, after sitting with you in his lap. "What's wrong, sweetie?" Ray asked softly, stroking your hair.

"T-T-They're f-fighting, and d-dad hit mom, a-and they were gonna s-start hitting m-me a-again-" You cut yourself off by not being able to breathe. You were having a panic attack again. Ray quickly rubbed your back and pressed kisses to your cheek, forehead, and temple.

"Shh, breathe, (Y/N)." He said softly, and grabbed your hand with his other one. He pressed his face into your hair, kissing you, and softly singing to you.
"Terrified of what I'd be
As a kid from what I've seen
Every single day when people try
And put the pieces back together
Just to smash them down
Turn my headphones up real loud
I don't think I need them now
'Cause you stopped the noise.

And if you stay I would even wait all night
Or until my heart explodes.
How long?
'Til we find our way in the dark and out of harm
You can run away with me anytime you want.."

Your breathing at this point had slowed, and you were fine. Ray's singing always made you calm down.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly. You nodded and mumbled, hiding under your hair.

"I'm sorry.."

"What for, babe?" He asked softly, and moved your hair out of your face. When you looked up at him, he smiled. "I want to see your gorgeous face." You wrinkled your nose in response, making him chuckle a little.

"I'm sorry for bothering you like this so much.." You spoke, answering his question from earlier. His smile faded, and he shook his head, looking at you serious.

"You're not bothering me at all, (y/n). Not one bit." You looked at him in doubt. "Really. I'd rather be here for you, than regret it later with you hurt." You smiled a tiny bit, but that smile disappeared when there was a knock at the door.

"Oh no." You whispered.

"No worries. That's probably just Frankie and the guys. They were supposed to come over." Ray gently shifted you off his lap, motioning for you to stay there, but instinctively, you went to hide upstairs. You stayed close enough to peek over the railing, but was still ready to run and hide. You heard the door open, and quiet talking. You peeked over the railing to see, but you couldn't, so you slowly walked down the stairs.

Eventually, you stood behind Ray, hiding, and peeked around him. The color drained from your face.

Your father stood there, your mother behind him, a fresh bruise showing on her jaw, or at least, you could see it. Ray probably couldn't because of the makeup she had on, but it had happened so many times that you knew when there was one.

"Come on, you're coming home right now!" Your father grabbed your arm, and started pulling you out the door.

"No, no, let go of me!" You screamed. He stopped, but didn't let go.

"You are getting your ass home, and cleaning up the mess you made-"

"I'm 18, you can't control me anymore! I'm a legal adult, so let go of me right now!" You screamed at him. He looked at you, his expression both hurt, and anger. Mostly anger. Before you could register what happened, his hand came across your cheek, knocking you to the ground. Ray immediately stepped in.

"Don't you dare lay a goddamn hand on her!" He shoved your father back, standing in front of you. Your father was about to retaliate but was interrupted.

"Ray?" Everyone looked behind your father, and saw Frank, Gerard, and Mikey standing there, confused. "What's going on here?" Gerard asked hesitantly, looking at your father and mother. Your father looked back at you and Ray, and then back to you again, clenching his teeth.

"We were just leaving. Don't come back." He said through his clenched teeth, and then turned around, leaving. Ray turned around and bent down to you, seeing your hand on your cheek, and he gently grabbed your other hand, helping you to a stand.

"Come on, lets get inside." Ray led you inside. As soon as you came in his house, you ran upstairs, hiding again. You heard the door close, and someone's confused voice.

"Where'd she go?" Ray looked around downstairs and must have sighed.

"She's hiding." You felt bad. You must have been annoying.

"From us?" Ray nodded downstairs. You slowly moved to sit on the stairs, at the top. "(Y/N) has been in a bad place for a while. Meeting new people scare her, and after what you just saw.." You felt even worse, curling up on the stairs, and burying your face.

"Ray, she's gonna be okay."

"I'm just really worried about her. I care about her so much. She thinks she bothers me all the time with all her little things she does, and she thinks she bothers me by coming over here, but...I'm glad she does all that." Your head lifted up a little bit.

"Ray, do you.."

"Yeah. I suppose I do love her." Your eyes teared up, and you covered your mouth in shock. He loved you!

"Then go get her so we can meet her!" There was a chuckle, and footsteps. You quickly turned and quietly ran back up the stairs, running into Ray's room and curling up into his bed. It was the comfiest place ever, and it smelled like him.

The door opened, and you heard footsteps get closer, until the bed sunk a little. You felt Ray's hand gently move some hair out of your face, so you rolled over to face him. He frowned suddenly then. You must have just done something wrong.

"I'm sorry, this is your bed, I shouldn't have-" He raised his hand, and you instinctively flinched.

"Hey hey hey, its okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." You opened your eyes and saw Ray gently grab your chin and made you look away, him examining your cheek. "I'm sorry." He said softly. You shook your head, and hugged him around his neck, his fluffy hair tickling your arms.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be." He pulled away and looked at you with a smile. "(Y/N)...um...I wanted to say.." He looked up and smiled softly. "I love you." You blushed and felt tears welling up, making him lose his smile. "I understand if you don't-" You shut him up by kissing him softly. After a slow but sweet kiss, you pulled away, touching foreheads.

"I love you too." You whispered. He grinned and stood up, rubbing your hand with his thumb.

"Will you come meet my friends?" You smiled wide and nodded.

"Definitely."
