I patted him on the shoulder lightly. "I tell you what. I'll go start cleaning down at one of the restaurants; which one did Sophie say she'd be in again?" -"Um, down on the main deck," He clicked his fingers a few times in thought. "I can't think what it's called, but it's one of the big extravagant ones. You'll see it, trust me." He threw me a feather duster and a bottle of something, which I wasn't even sure what it was, and smiled. "I'll go and ask what she wants, and I'll text you. You can make it up and I'll come collect it yeah?" He laughed slightly and nodded as I made my way out of the door.
After walking down the many corridors and being greeted by many guests boarding the ship, I opened the large wooden doors leading into a huge room. The walls were a creamy sort of colour, and the floor was a light oak. Each round table was surrounded with four matching wood chairs, with a lilac pillow placed on each one. The room was so elegant and gentle, it actually made me feel quite posh. I laughed at myself and walked over to one of the plain tables. I sprayed it with the mixture in the navy bottle I was holding and it almost instantly evaporated, letting off a beautiful scent. I took a deep breath in through my nose and sprayed every remaining table in the room. I dusted the corners of the walls and sprayed some of the liquid on the walls, just for luck. After doing this, I heard some quiet mumbles from behind me. I turned to see three buff men, two bald, and one with black hair- Dylan -walk into the room, almost in a huddle. I watched as they shuffled to one of the tables and as they broke up, I noticed a tall woman with a shiny black bob, a full fringe, and emerald green eyes. I found myself staring at her for a while, until she sat down with Dylan sat beside her, blocking my view. I stepped to the side, trying to see the beautiful lady that was sitting next to Dylan. He kept leaning closer to her and I could see how uncomfortable she felt.
"Where you from?" I heard Dylan ask as I resumed dusting the ceiling. I could just about reach, considering my six-foot height. "I'm from London," I heard her say quietly. I heard a scratch across the floor and I guessed that it was Dylan moving his chair closer to the girl. I swung around and saw that her face was a deep shade of scarlet. She smiled awkwardly as Dylan fired a wink in her direction. She looked up and somehow our eyes locked contact. I smiled widely at her and she smiled back, her eyes begging for help. I placed my equipment down on one of the tables and tightened my ponytail, making my way over to the table. "May I take your order?" I asked chirpily. Dylan fired a cold look at me and I poked my tongue out at him. "Can I have pancakes? Do you do pancakes?" She answered my question with a question, her strong Essex accent making my tummy flutter a little. "Yes, we do do pancakes," I nodded, making her laugh a little at the fact that I said 'do-do'. "Well then, I'd love pancakes!" Her eyes were beaming, making me smile a huge smile. She was cute, bless.
"Robin, quick with those pancakes!" I ordered, patting his back a few times. "I'm making them as fast as I can!" He flipped the batter in the pan. Although I could see the back of his head, I knew he was smiling. "What you so smug about?" -"Well, you met Jessie yet?" I felt myself smile too. "Yes, she's lovely. Dylan's making her feel really uncomfortable though, I think. Proper flirt, that boy." -"You wanna know why she's uncomfortable?" I looked over his shoulder and we made slight eye contact. "She likes girls." I took a step back and felt a huge smile sweep over my face yet again. "How do you know that?" I asked, walking to the fridge and grabbing myself a can of Monster. I took a gulp as Robin replied, "I still can't believe you don't know who she is!" He placed two pancakes on a plate and sprinkled them with sugar. "Well who is-" I was interrupted by Harry plodding into the room. "Robin, son, we need some English breakfasts cooked." Robin nodded and handed me the plate, and I made my way back down the hallways and into the restaurant, still carrying my energy drink in one hand.
Just as I was about to walk into the last corridor before the main restaurant, I saw Jessie running towards me, a mischievous look on her face. "You've gotta get me away from that guy," She laughed. "He's a nightmare, come on!" She took my can of Monster out of my hand and held it in her right hand, entwining her left with mine. She tightened her grip and began to run, with me by her side. "We have to go! The security blokes didn't like me running straight past them... In here!" She giggled, pulling me into a towel cupboard. She sat down on an empty shelf and took a sip of my Monster, her free hand still tightly holding mine. I placed the plate of pancakes down on a pile of towels and sat on a shelf opposite Jessie. She let go of my hand and laughed loudly. "Sh!" I giggled. "Do you want them to find you and take you back to get flirted with for the next hour?" I pressed my finger to my lips as I heard several loud footsteps run past the door. "You looked pretty uncomfortable in there." I whispered, as the footsteps died down. "One of those bodyguards, damn he's annoying." -"Yep, that's Dylan for you." She opened her mouth slightly. "Do you know him? I didn't mean to offend you." I smiled gently, reassuring the worried green sparkle in her eyes. "He is a bit annoying, I must agree. I think he really likes you," I looked down at my hands. Jess lowered her head and resumed eye contact with me. "Hey, I'm not looking for any relationship right now. I'm way too caught up in work." -"What do you actually do, if I may ask?" Jess took a bite out of her pancake. "I'm a singer." She swallowed. "I'm not that well known to be fair," This time, my jaw dropped slightly. "Didn't you hear those screaming girls outside when you boarded? They love you!" Jessie laughed, yet again. Her laugh was so cute. Every time she looked at me, I felt a warm feeling in my tummy. "I do love my fans, don't get me wrong, but being a celebrity isn't a piece of cake." She lifted up the hem of her shirt to reveal a tattoo on her hip.
"Don't loose who you are in the blur of the stars."
My eyes ran across her stomach, reading the tattoo, but also looking at how toned she was. She pretty much had abs. "Its spelt wrong," She lifted her head up to see me still looking at her stomach. My head shot up and I blushed a deep red. I felt my cheeks burn hot and a slight smile tugged at my cheeks as she pulled the hem of her shirt back down. "For someone with not a lot of spare time, you seem to work out a lot." I joked, and she laughed sweetly, yet again. She took another swig of my Monster and reached it out to me. "Sorry, this is yours." -"No, no, it's fine. Take as much as you want! I've got plenty." She wiggled the half empty can in front of me. "I insist. Have some." I shrugged and took the can, taking a few gulps. There was obviously some of Jessie's lip gloss remaining on the can, because the taste of strawberries basically overtook the whole Monster flavour. I licked my lips and handed the can back to her. She stood up and reached down to me, and I took her hand again, standing up. She obviously meant to help me up, but we just stood there, saying nothing.
I was taller than her, but we still made direct eye contact. We were so close. The butterflies in my stomach were going mad. Her breath pressed against my cheeks, and she broke the silence by apologising. "Sorry," She stepped back and her arm retreated to her side. "I-I have to go." She opened the door and checked side to side. There must have been nothing there because she began to run to the left. "Jessie! Jessie!" I called. "JESSIE, WAIT!"
I pulled my hair band out of my hair and let it fall around my face, a slight wave twisting it at the bottom. I turned back and picked up the half empty plate of pancakes. I sighed deeply and turned, walking out of the door and down one of the many corridors.
I really liked Jessie, I really really really liked her.
And I wasn't going to let her slip away that easily.
