I slowly opened my eyes as my alarm rung, and it took me a few seconds to realise how incredibly close to Jessie I was. She was still fast asleep, so I rolled over slowly, untangling my arm from her, and turned my alarm off, desperately trying not to wake her. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, looking down at the sleeping beauty beside me. My stomach was going crazy, I really liked her.
I pulled on my black blouse and my matching trousers before sliding my hairband from my wrist and fiddling it in my fingers. Damn, I'd left my shoes under my bed again; on Jessie's side. I ran a hand through my hair and knelt beside the sleeping Jessie. I tied up my hair neatly and slid my black shoes out from under my bed. Jessie rolled over gently, opening her eyes and staring into me. "Morning," I whispered. Dylan and Robin were still asleep behind me. They were taking the day off today, you could have one day off in the six months you're on the ship - because Dylan was feeling pretty bad. "How you feeling?" Jessie scrunched her face up and crinkled her nose cutely. "Pretty bad." She whimpered, holding her forehead. I smiled empathically and sat on the bed beside her, tying up my shoelaces. "What happened last night?" She asked quietly, sitting up and leaning back on her pillow - well, my pillow. "Jessie got drunk." I said simply. She raised her eyebrows in disbelief. "I don't like alcohol..." She sounded confused. I had to explain to her. I laughed slightly and began, "Dylan put some vodka in your juice. You were hammered babe. You came up here and spoke to me, then you went to the toilets and... threw up a bit." I paused, trying to block out the vomiting noises that were ringing in my ears. "Then you passed out, in my bed."
After I had explained the events, Jessie laughed. A cute laugh. One of those contagious laughs that makes your tummy flutter, and makes a warm feeling rush to your cheeks. One of those laughs that replays in your mind, and doesn't get boring. It makes you want to laugh, it makes you want to be happy. And it did. I wanted that laugh to be mine. I wanted to hear that every time I woke up, and every time I went to bed. I wanted to make that laugh happen. I wanted to make her happy. I wanted to make her mine.
"What's funny?" Jessie asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. "You're smiling like a Cheshire cat!" She giggled again, making me smile wider. I couldn't help it. Our eyes locked contact and she smiled slightly, raising a confused eyebrow at me. It was almost like she was trying to figure me out. The smile remained plastered on my face as I saw Jessie's eyes light up. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I really really really liked this girl. Her beauty, her eyes, her hair, her lips, her cute little nose stud, her eyebrows, her cheekbones, her skin, her body, her dress sense, her hands, everything. I really really really liked her. All of a sudden, everything about her became perfect to me. I looked deep into her eyes, and she looked back, deeper into mine. We sat there in silence for a few moments, like we were the only two people in the world.
"I like you." I spoke quietly, softly. That was it. Those words were out, and there was no way of taking them back. Jessie remained silent, and she stopped smiling. Her face was just still, with her mouth slightly open. "I like you." I repeated, hoping for a reply this time. She remained still. I could feel my heart beating in my throat. I swallowed hard and closed my mouth. It was so dry. I couldn't feel my hands or my legs. I blinked hard a few times... could I really see Jessie smiling? My mouth opened slightly as I saw her smile brightly. Her eyes sparkled a gentle green, and I saw them coming closer. I felt her warm breath press against my face. "I like you too." She whispered, leaning further towards me.
Before I knew it, her lips were pressed softly against mine. She was kissing me. Jessie was kissing me. We both pulled away after a few seconds and rested our foreheads against each other's. I smiled widely again, and so did she. I leant forward again and pressed our noses together. "You really like me too?" I asked, closing my eyes for a few seconds. I felt something soft peck my lips, and I instantly knew what it was. "Does that answer your question?" She asked, winking. I nodded and winked back, pulling away. I stood up slowly, only to be pulled back by Jessie wrapping her arms around my neck. "Please don't go." She whispered cutely, pouting. She looked deeply into my eyes again, begging me to stay. "Jessie, I can't stay. I have to go to work." I pecked her on the lips again and she released me, folding her arms and laying back down. "The boys will keep you company, I'll only be a few hours. Come down to the main deck for lunch, and I'll see you then, yeah?" I stood up and reached down for Jessie to take my hand. She did, with a tight grip. I pulled her up and held her in a tight hug. "Wake Robin up in a bit for me, and tell him I've gone to work, please?" I asked her, squeezing her shoulders. She nodded over my shoulder and I felt her tighten my ponytail. I laughed and let go of her. "I'll see you later. Promise you'll come see me?" She nodded and made her way back to my bed, and laid down.
I walked into the kitchen with a smile plastered on my face. I cooked a few breakfast meals for the passengers, took the plates to them, washed up cutlery and drunk about seven energy drinks in the space of about five hours. I needed them to get through work, trust me. All I could think about was Jessie. The kiss. The hug. Just being around her made me smile.
I scrubbed down my last plate, glanced down at my phone that was on the sideboard next to me and saw that it was 12 o'clock. My stomach erupted in butterflies as I reminded myself that I'd be seeing Jessie in half an hour. I'd asked Harry if I could take my lunch break an hour early, and he agreed kindly, as long as I was back serving the bar by nine. I would literally do anything to be able to see Jessie as soon as possible. I emptied the water from the tub in the sink that was holding the utensils and plates, and I began to pack them away into the wooden drawers that were dotted around the kitchen. "Hey." I heard a familiar voice say from behind me. I swung round to face the doors.
Jessie was standing there. Oh my god. I still remember it perfectly now. She stood there, with curly hair, her fringe brushed back through it; she had no makeup on. I looked down and saw she was wearing an oversized red hoodie and skinny jeans, which she had rolled up, because they were so long. Why were they so long? The outfit was mine. My jaw dropped slightly at the gorgeous sight, standing only a few feet away from me. Well, I say that, but she was edging closer every few seconds. "You're early." I said, a small smirk tugging at my lips. "I couldn't wait. I missed you, so I just threw on some of your clothes. I hope you don't mind." -"I don't mind. It's fine." I stepped towards her, closing the gap a little more. "I missed you too." I grinned, letting a small giggle emerge. Jessie took another step closer. So did I. The gap between us closed and Jessie wrapped her arms around my waist, resting her chin on my shoulder. I held my arms around her shoulders, and slowly moved them down to her waist, picking her up and spinning her round, sitting her on the sideboard. I kissed her gently and smiled. I turned around and untied my apron, slipping it up and over my head. I hung it up and walked slowly back to Jessie. I held her hand tightly, entwining our fingers. I brought it to my lips and kissed it softly. "So, I was thinking I'd take you out for an early lunch?" I invited, lifting Jessie. She wrapped her legs around my waist and I began to carry her to the doors to the long stretch of corridor ahead.
"What on earth are you doing?" I asked, laughing a little. Jessie was basically shuffling around my waist; then I realised what she was doing. She wanted a piggy back. "Oi, don't be lazy!" I joked, jolting up so Jessie slipped. She squealed loudly and I burst out laughing. She stopped me a few seconds later by tapping my left shoulder hard, intending for me to go left at the end of the corridor. "Why am I going this way? There's nothing down here." I said, confused. Jessie didn't take no for an answer though. I turned left obediently and walked down a short corridor, with a wooden door on the left, labelled Bedding Closet. "What?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Then I realised Jessie was behind me, so she couldn't see me. I laughed to myself and grabbed Jessie's thigh, holding her up whilst I opened the door with my free hand. She squealed and slid off of my back, wrapping her arms around my waist from behind.
I stared in front of me: a small wooden table in the middle of the tiny room, two small foldable deck chairs, a large candle, and two empty plates. "Sit down, gorgeous." Jessie demanded, and I did as I was told. I sat down and looked across at Jessie. She was beaming. "What's this?" I asked, still in shock of what was in front of me. Jessie winked and we both looked over at the door.
"Hello, ma'am. I'm Robin." He winked and smiled at me. "May I take your order on this fine afternoon?"
