Chapter 7

Josh's POV

"Maddie, Maddie" I called as I was in the middle of walking to her house, until I saw her walk out. But just as I said her name she looked at me with a surprised expression on her face. As I ran to grab her in my arms, I noticed she didn't smile when she saw me. Why is she not smiling?

"Hey" I spoke. "Hey" she said shyly. "So do you want to go do something?" I asked with a smile on my face. But then I saw her look away from me. What was wrong with her? "Um actua-" I cut her off saying "What is wrong?". I was very confused. Why was she acting weird today. I though she had fun with me last night. "Look Josh, last night was a mistake. I never meant for that to happen." What does she mean by this? I thought that she liked me, and I liked her. "What do you mean. I though you we had fun last night, I thought you liked me?" I said with a depressing tone. I really thought we had something. "I know I did to, but I'm not ready for a relationship, I hope you understand." Okay, I don't understand. I swear I thought we could have a relationship. What the fudge. "No, no." I said with disbelief. "What?" She said confused. "No, I won't loose you this easily, maybe it's just that your scared of having another relationship" I said. I don't know what happened in her last relationship, but I was not going to loose her, not now.

"Listen Josh, I said I wasn't ready, not that I'm scared, and you don't know what happened in my last relationship so can we just forget about last night?" She spoke while unlocking her car. As she was about to sit in the car I blocked the door. "No we can't Maddie, that was the best night I have ever had, so no we can not just forget about it" I said determined, I was not going to loose this battle. "No Josh, whatever we have is over" she yelled raising her voice. She pushed me away to sit in the car, but I grabbed her wrist and wouldn't let go no matter how hard she tugged. "Josh let go of me." She said yelling at me. "No Maddie I won't loose you, not like this, why can't we have a relationship, why can't this work?" I asked getting teary eyed.

"Because it can't, so let go of me, I'm done playing games." She spoke yelling even louder at me. I could also tell she was about to cry. "I'm not playing games either Maddie, I really like you, why can't we at least try." I asked almost breaking down and crying. Yes, I wasn't the toughest guy around, but I wasn't a Winnie either. "Im-" I cut her off by crushing our lips together. I kissed her, but she didn't kiss back. What happened to the girl I was at the fair with yesterday? What happened to Maddie?

As I broke the kiss she didn't have an amused expression on her face. But then she just pulled her arm out of my grip, got inside the car and left. Why? She said yesterday that she liked me. What is so different about liking me today?

As she drove away my heart shattered into a million little pieces. What happened?
