The next few days went by unpredictably fast, after the questioning, the testimonies, and the emotional recovery, Dipper, Pacifica, and Trey returned to their final year of high school, trying to pretend that nothing ever happened.
Dipper and Pacifica sat in math class together, the first year they had it together. Dipper rotated his pencil between his index and pointer fingers.
"So if the square root of a is equal to x then a plus x equals a plus a over a...." The Teacher continued.
Dipper looked over at Pacifica, who was writing notes, then back at Trey who was busy with make-up work. He lightly smiled knowing that they could go back to the way things were. But a small portion of him couldn't let go of what had happened, couldn't forget about Alice.
School ended and Dipper and Pacifica walked home together.
"So you wanna make a detour, er something?" Dipper asked.
"Sure, do you want to go to the mall, I've been meaning to buy some new clothes and there's this one pair of boots I've had my eye on." She replied, listing what she wanted by counting them on her fingers.
Dipper smiled. "Bag boy Pines is on the case!" He mock soluted.
Pacifica laughed, causing Dipper to reciprocate a smile.
"I could buy you something. I know you like hats 'n stuff so..."
"No! Let me stop you there no new hats for me, the one I have is good enough." Dipper sarcasticly argued.
"Ha ha, just kidding! Y'know you can be a real dork sometimes." Pacifica exclaimed.
"Really?" Dipper put his hand on his chin.
"No. More like all the time." She joked.
"Well this dork might be too dorky for shopping with you." Dipper raised his shoulders.
"'Beep boop, I am Dipper, I am a nerd bot that's you, that's what you sound like.'" She quoted.
"Thanks Gruncle Stan, anyway can we get goin' that sun isn't going to stay up all day." Dipper rushed.
"Sure, let's go."
The two went to the mall. As usual, Pacifica picked out the clothes while Dipper carried the bags. All was good until they decided to head to Pacifica's house to drop off the goods.
"Hey its getting dark, should be start going?" Pacifica asked.
"Easy for you to say, I'm carrying 500 pounds of women's clothing!" Dipper exclaimed with bags around all of his upper limbs.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She took an indifferent amount of them.
"Jeez, you're going to go broke with the amount of stuff you buy." Dipper doubtfully assumed.
"Egh, probably not." Pacifica said to Dipper's expectance.
"Hey so, umf!" Dipper was tackled.
"Dipper what's wrong?!" Pacifica turned around seeing a small girl about their age on top of, and ineffectively punching, Dipper.
"I hate you Dipper Pines! I h...." After only a few blows the unidentified girl collapsed on him.
"Do you know this g..."
"Haven't seen her once in my life!" Dipper stopped Pacifica.
"Well we can't just leave her here alone, why don't you bring her back to my place until she wakes up." She offered.
"Ugh more things, I have to carry." Dipper got up and put the girl on his back. They walked back to the mansion with the mysterious girl who attached Dipper.
