The Fae King

Nothing compares to how it feels to be bitten. When Vlad said it would be amazing, he wasn’t exaggerating. It’s like winning the lottery, writing a book in a day and having it become a best seller and single handedly finding the cure for cancer all at once. And I’m not sure that comes close. If it feels as good for him as it does for me, then I’m not sure how he stops himself. He always does though.

“Are you starting to feel better?” Vlad asks me after he had pulled away from my neck.

“Much, thank you.” I replied, still in a state of pure bliss. I wonder if what I feel is what the creatures that eat my kind taste when they do said activity? If so I can understand why they do it, I don’t approve of it but I understand.

“When am I going to meet the fae king?”

“Now. This has to be settled as soon as possible. No time for lollygagging.” Vlad said while playfully shoving me out the door. “We’ll be having the meeting in my office. It’s this way.”

I followed Vlad down the hallway and up three flights of stairs. I’ll never get used to living in this castle he calls as house. Surprisingly enough it didn’t take as long as you might think to climb up all the stairs and make it to Vlad’s office.  It was the second door from the staircase on the right side. Once inside I noticed that there were no windows? Most likely so he couldn’t tell what time of day it was and therefore not be able to tell how long he had been locked away in his office when he was working. Smart move. If I didn’t enjoy looking outside so much while I write, however big of a distraction it may be, I would ask to have just like it to write in. Maybe that way I wouldn’t be scrambling to make deadlines. For once it would be nice to not have to work up until the very last minute to meet them.

“Niall thank you again for coming on such short notice. This is Callaghan, my mate as I was telling you.” Vlad introduced the fae king, whose name I found out to be Niall, and I. “My love, this is Niall, the fae king.”

“Pleasure to meet you, my lady.” Niall said nodding his head in what seemed to be an acknowledgment of my status.”

“Likewise, your highness.” I said.

“Niall m’lady. Please.”

“Niall then. I assume you know why we’ve asked you to come to this meeting?” I spoke. I hoped he did, because I only knew very little. Just that we needed him to side with us or…I don’t like thinking about what happens if he doesn’t.

“Yes m’lady.  The fae will stand with the vampires if their queen will bless us. That is our condition.” I have no idea what he is talking about. What am I supposed to be blessing? “We want security, that once the war is over the fae will not be hunted by vampires, werewolfs or witches. We also want protection against the demons and those who have allied with them. With your blessing, this would be so.”

I looked at Vlad. Was this something he wanted me to do? Or did he not want me to promise such things? I hoped Vlad could pick up on my thoughts and give me some sort of clue as to what I was supposed to do. It must be my lucky day because Vlad gave me an every so slight nod.

“You have my blessing.”
