As long as I have Vlad by my side, I know I can handle anything. Vlad is currently preparing for the battle. As much as I would rather him just stay in the safety of the castle, I know he would never send his people to fight without being there to help them. It is something I both admire and hate about him.

“I don’t understand why I can’t fight too. You said yourself I am stronger than you.”  I have been following Vlad around for hours begging him to let me fight alongside him. He’s being stubborn and is insisting I stay back. And when I say he’s insisting, I mean he has demanded I stay or he will chain me to the bed. As exciting as that sounds, I don’t think it would be much fun alone.

“No Callaghan, I said you would eventually be stronger than I am. You haven’t developed your full power yet and until the day you do, you will be stuck at home. I cannot risk you getting hurt, or worse killed. I couldn’t survive without you and our people need me and I need you.”

“Well, when you put it that way.” I stated. I know he’s only trying to protect me but it’s getting annoying. I am twenty years old, wait never mind that wasn’t going to help my case at all forget I even brought it up.

Vlad left hours ago, along with everyone in the house leaving me alone. I explored for a while but grew bored of wondering around, plus I have forever literally to explore this place why would I want to do it all in one night?  I was on my way back to the library to find a book to read while I waited for Vlad and the house staff to return. I was only a few steps away when a cloth bag was pulled over my head and I was grabbed from behind roughly. My attacker made quick work of tying my hands behind my back with zip-ties. Ouch, couldn’t he have gone for the slightly more comfortable option and used rope? He then proceeded to wrap something over the bag and my mouth.

“Wouldn’t want you screaming for help, now would we?” The thought hadn’t even crossed my mind. It’s not like anyone was around to hear me anyways they were all out fighting. Which I assume my attacker knows since he doesn’t seem to worried about getting caught.

“Now be a good girl and do as I say and you won’t get hurt. Much that is.” Why do people insist on kidnapping me? Do I have a sign on my back or something? First the guy in the alley taking me and now this, this thing whatever he is. So much for being safe staying back from the fight, ha bet Vlad didn’t think this was going to happen. I began trying to remember what Vlad had told me when he was teaching me basic self-defense.  Nothing I had been taught would help me right now. Everything I had learned I would need at least vision to use, I had no idea where my attacker was. It wasn’t long before I was roughly grabbed and moved, the person who grabbed me threw me into a car of some sort I wasn’t sure how many attackers there were, there could have been only one or ten, there was no talking between them.

We were in the car for about an hour before we came to a stop. The car was shut off and the bag was taken off my head. I saw there were two men. One grabbed me and began dragging towards a house. I was able to see that we were in a forest of sorts and the house was quite large. Once inside the house the man threw me into a room and shut the door.

I sighed and took a look around. There was a small cot like bed with a few blankets and two pillows, a chair with a footrest placed in front of it, a television, a dresser, and off to the side there was bathroom. How long were they planning on keeping me here? Vlad would eventually notice I was missing and come after me, wouldn’t he? Oh god, Vlad was out fighting, for only god knows how long it could be weeks, months even.

I was stuck here.
