The Halloween Dance

Today, We are all going into Hogsmeade to shop for our halloween costumes. Aliria and I already decided what we would be and Teddy will be our date. He promised. Although, we don't know what he is dressing up as and he doesn't know what we're going as so - it'll be a surprise. I'm dressing up as a butterfly and Aliria is going to be a raven! Everyone has started calling Teddy, Al and I triplets even though we all look nothing alike...I guess it's because we spend all of our time together! So, It was hard to get Professor Longbottom to agree to let Aliria get ready in the Hufflepuff dorms! I've been ignoring Scorpius the past week because he really hurt me. Al is still furious with him and Teddy, well Teddy is polite but still sort of cold towards him.

Aliria and I walked into the biggest costume shop in the village and looked around. I grinned at Al and grabbed her wrist and tugged her forward. I walked around the story for about a half an hour, looking at dresses and calling out to Al every time - and she would do the same but we hadn't found anything. I heard a squeal from behind me and Al shouted "BETH COME HERE!!! I FOUND SOMETHING FOR YOU!!!!" I whipped around and ran over to wear she was standing. She turned and held out the dress to me. I stared at the shimmery multicolored fabric in awe. It was all baby blues, light greens and yellows and baby pinks and white. I could feel my jaw hanging open and my eyes open wide. "Oh my god" I breathed. "You HAVE to try this on!!!" I nodded and I got a change room. I slipped off my clothes in a haste and lightly pulled the dress on, careful and the soft fabric. I zipped up the back and opened the change room door. Al gasped "Hot damn babe!" We both started laughing as she walked over and stood just behind me in the mirror. I gasped at my reflecion. My icy blonde hair was back in a braid that was hanging down my back and the colors in the dress made my silvery blue eyes look more aqua than they were and also gave my sskin more color. I ran my hands over the waist of the dress. I couldn't stop staring at myself. And I never liked looking mirrors for too long. Al grinned wide and said "So now all we need is my costume and your mask and shoes?" I nodded without saying anything. I walked back into the change room and took the dress off - reluctantly might I add? I pulled on my jeans and tshirt and brought the dress to the counter and paid for it. It was surprisingly cheap. I started helping Al look for her dress. we were there another hour before we tripped across the gorgeous black silk, strapless, corseted dress. It was so black that it had a bluey shine to it. I held it out to her triumphantly and without another word - she took it from me and rushed to the dressing rooms. I waited very impatiently to see it and when I did my jaw dropped "I need help doing up the back though...." I nodded and she turned her back to so I could do it up for her. Once it was done up, it fit like a glove. "Perfect" We wisphered at the exact same time. We looked at each other and grinned. She went back in and changed out of it. We decided to look for our masks next and soon I found a rainbow mask that looks like butterfly wings going over my eyes and cheek bones. Al picked one made of black shiny feathers. We next grabbed our wings. Mine were shimmery gold but mostly see through. Al's were black with a bluey tint made of feathers. We went to the shoe store across from the costume shop. I pick out some gold, gladiator heels and Al picked some black, glittery, strappy heels. When we got outside the shop, I checked my watch and saw that it was time to meet Teddy to get some butterbeers. When we got there we froze in place. Teddy was deep in conversation with Scorpius. What the fuck? I stormed over to the table and pulled up a chair and slammed down into the seat and looked at Teddy "Did you get your costume?!" I refused to look at Scorpius. He stuttered as he said "H-hi B" I just glared out the window. I crossed my arms over my chest. I heard him sigh in defeat and his chair scraape as he pushes it back. I heard the bell chime to signal the door opening and watched as he walked passed the window with his shoulders slumped and looking defeated. It hurt even hearing his voice. but he was an asshole so it didn't matter. I didn't say anything to Teddy. Al had gone to grab drinks for us when we got inside so I took our bags to the table. "He's really, really sorry. He didn't - " Teddy started. I glared at him angrily. "Are you really trying to get me to like 'im again? I never stopped but I can't be 'is dirty little secret whore - only there for 'is personal entertainment. I don't wanna have to 'ide ze relationship. 'Ee is a coward" He shook his head and looked up as Aliria joined us with a tray of three mugs of butterbeer and a couple of cupcakes. Teddy tried to bring up Scorpius a couple more times but Aliria would smack him upside the head. Finally, Teddy angrily said "He's not such a bad guy! okay? He's not and he didn't mean anything the way you took it" Al and I stared at him a couple of minutes. I blinked back tears and looked away. I shook my head, grabbed my bags and stood up. He knew how much I hated it when people yelled or were like he just was with me. I was feeling angry, upset and most of all betrayed. He was supposed to be my best friend wasn't he? I started to walk out when he grabbed my wrist. I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I glared at him. "Let go!" I yanked my wrist away and stormed out of the shop and down the street. I was halfway back to school when Teddy caught up. He was panting and clutching a stitch in his side. Did he run all the way from the cafe? I stared at him, silently with a blank expression while he caught his breath. He finally straightened up and said "Beth...I'm sorry I snapped like that. It's just he's my friend but your my BEST friend and I want you both to be happy." I just watched him a few more minutes, before answering with "He hurt me. Okay? You probably don't understand 'ow I feel right now knowing that one of my two best friends is trying to force me into something that's eventually going to hurt me!?!" He looked down at the ground as my eyes filled with tears again. "I'm sorry...I won't bring it up again okay?" I slowly found myself nodding. He pulled me into his arms and wrapped his warm arms around me. I buried my face in his shoulder and hugged back, sniffling a bit. When we stopped hugging I looked around confused "Where is Al?" He laughed and said "She wanted to let me apologize so she said she went to pick up the lipstick for you costumes and she'd she us at lunch back at Hogwarts" I smiled and we walked back to the castle just talking and he tried many times to swipe the bag with our costumes in it to take a peek. He earned several punches in the arm for that.

2 DAYS LATER.

It's two hours before the dance. Al and I had were doing our hair. I did a french twist with my bonde hair and Al decided to curl her unruly hair. It looked amazing! Then we did our makeup. After we finished our hair and makeup it was 20 minutes until the dance so we put our dresses, shoes and masks on. We walked down out of the dorms and found everyone staring at us in shock. I could see Teddy sitting on the couch watching us with a big grin on his face. We walked over to him and examined his costumes as he looked at ours with scrutiny. He was wearing an old kings garb, loosing pants and a shirt with puffy sleeves made of vibrant blue felt with a gold sash and a sort at his hip, leather knee-high boots and a gold crown on top of his sandy coloured hair- I looked at the insignia in the middle of his shirt, it was a gold and hand stitched lion rearing back as if about to attack with a sword crossing over a shield over top of the lion. He looked back up at us and said "You girls are my queens for the night" With a dramatic and sweeping bow. We both laughed at him "Your so cheesy!" He frowned "No! I'm serious you both look like royalty! Like Al - you could be a queen of birds with wicked cool powers! and Beth you could be a butterfly princess!" I hugged him and so did Al. "Shall we go?" I asked with a bright smile. They both agreed and we headed out. Teddy helped us both through the portrait so we wouldn't trip. When we got to the great hall, there were orange and red spotlights spinning around the room and music was playing from an unkown spot in the hall. Their were small circular tables placed around the egdes of the room with spider web cloths draped over top. There was a food and drink table placed in each corner of the room and a disco ball spinning in mid air. I grinned and looked arounf the hall - fascinated with everything. The hall started filling and soon their were kids in costumes dancing everywhere! Teddy, Al and I soon joined everyone in the middle and danced happily. An hour or so later - I stopped and went to get some punch. While I was standing by the table drinking the punch, I felt like someone was watching me. I frowned and turned and saw Scorpius looking at me, he gave me a weak smile and turned and walked away. I frowned even more. He looked damn good. He was wearing a black suit with a silver and green tie and his mask was silver, black and emerald and made his hair look even more blande than usual. I blushed and finished my drink and went to enjoy the rest of the night with my friends.
