*Rebekah's POV*
It's been so long since I even had what could be anything near a friend, Niklaus decided that it was too risky & our cover would be blown. At that stage our most wonderful lovely father (note the sarcasm) was out to kill us all. It seems like an eternity since then. So hence my dilemma, it's been so long & she hasn't even had a friend, what exactly in this day & age do 'best friends' do.
Oh I know. I've seen this in several bad movies & on this social media thingy. I hope I don't seem too clingy for her though.
"Ok we need a selfie. You know, new roomies, best friends, etc," I pulled out my phone & jumped on her bed beside her.
"Ok," she giggled.
"Smile," I said positioning the phones camera to capture a simply but perfect photo.
I pressed the small on-screen button & took the shot. It actually looked good. So proud of my very first selfie with my very first best friend. I pointed the screen toward her & she giggled with happiness.
"I'll send it to you," I said but stopped realizing that I didn't have her number.
'You've just met, idiot,' I scowled at myself.
I handed her my phone, "you enter your number in & I'll do the same or you."
"Sure," she took my phone & handed me hers.
Once the exchanging of numbers had taken place, we sat back against the wall on her bed & checked out our new living quarters. That's when I noticed her stereo & CD collection. I must say her tastes were far from what I had imagined. She had music ranging from Foo Fighters all the way through to classical Bach.
'My brothers will be impressed,' I noted to myself.
"Your music tastes are very eccentric," I commented.
"Yes but I don't have just one genre that I like, even though I prefer classical over most. Does that make me a freak?" she replied, concentrating on her fingers.
'I knew I should've left my music behind,' her mind cried.
"Oh God no. Who on earth told you that?" I spat, thinking maybe I hit a sore spot.
"Everyone who has ever known me. That was basically my nickname for the past 16 years. Yes I admit, I'm not your typical kind of female but seriously I don't want to be a sheep either. I'm guessing that might just put a strain on our friendship?" she stated more than asked.
I put my arm around her, "of course not. I don't judge people by their taste of music or food or anything, well maybe their fashion sense but otherwise no judgment here. I'd be proud to call you my best friend."
She seemed to relax & put her head against me. I took that touching friend moment to snap another couple of photos on my phone. That appeared to have cheered her up some. I sent the photos taken to her phone & decided that I needed to message Elijah to let him know that I was bringing company with me on Friday evening.
"I'll be back in a minute. I just have to ring my grandma & tell her I'm all settled in," Finlay told me moving off the bed & then out the door.
Hey just a little heads up that I'm bringing
my new best friend to stay the weekend.
Please promise me that you'll tell Nik to
behave while she's there. I really like her
& she seems like a really nice person.I quickly typed & pressed send. Within a few seconds came Elijah's reply.
Seriously Rebekah, haven't you learnt from
past experiences that Niklaus will just cause
havoc. I'm not sure if this is such a good idea,
but just for you I will warn him of your plans.
Hope you are enjoying yourself so far and I
will see you and your friend on Friday. I guess
we'll eat out.Thank you Elijah. See you then.
I just pressed send as Finlay walked back in.
"Let's go get some pizza," I said looping my arm in hers & we walked out.
*Finlay's POV*
"Ok we need a selfie. You know new roomies, best friends, etc," Rebekah pulled out her phone & jumped on my bed beside me.
"Ok," I giggled a bit nervous at the suddenness.
"Smile," she said positioning the phone in front of us.
She showed me the screen & I couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm at this unfamiliar friendship thing. I admit it was a great photo of the two of us.
"I'll send it to you," she said but stopped.
Rebekah handed me her phone, "you enter your number in & I'll do the same or you."
"Sure," I agreed as she placed her phone in my hand.
The two of us just sat quietly leaning against the wall. I noticed her eyeing my music collection.
"Your music tastes are very eccentric," she commented.
"Yes but I don't have just one genre that I like, even though I prefer classical over most. Does that make me a freak?" my heart dropped.
'I knew I should've left my music behind,' I thought inwardly.
"Oh God no. Who on earth told you that?" she replied apologetically.
"Everyone who has ever known me. That was basically my nickname for the past 16 years. Yes I admit, I'm not your typical kind of female but seriously I don't want to be a sheep either. I'm guessing that might just put a strain on our friendship?" I knew I had screwed up.
Rebekah put her arm around my shoulders, "of course not. I don't judge people by their taste of music or food or anything, well maybe their fashion sense but otherwise no judgment here. I'd be proud to call you my best friend."
I felt like this huge weight had lifted off me & I lent my head against her shoulder. She again got passionate with even more photos of the two of us. She then proceeded to message the photos over to my phone. She then started messaging someone else, which reminded me that I hadn't called my grandma yet.
"I'll be back in a minute. I just have to ring my grandma & tell her I'm all settled in," I pushed myself off the bed & left the room.
I dialed my grandmothers number & within a two rings she answered, "hello Fin. So lovely to her from you. So I guess you're all settled in."
"Hi grandma. Yes, all set up & I met my roommate. She's really nice & she wants to be my best friend," I grinned like an moron.
"That's wonderful sweetheart. I'm glad everything is going well for you," her voice reflected her mood - happy.
We spoke a little while longer until she had to go as her bingo lift had arrived to pick her up. We said our goodbyes & I returned to the room.
"Let's go get some pizza," she said looping her arm through mine.
