I open my eyes and immediately my body is aching from the avalanche. I groan from a searing headache. "Is she awake yet?" a quiet voice asks. "I think she is waking up," a stronger female voice replies. My vision is extremely blurry, but I can still make out a short woman walking up to me.

"How are you feeling honey?" she asks very sweetly. "I-I can't see anything clearly, everything is blurry," I reply softly. "Don't worry that will wear off soon," she says, "Would you mind lifting up your shirt, I need to change your bandages?" I nod and slowly lift up the shirt I was wearing.

"Those rocks got you good," she comments as she is working. "Honey if you don't mind me asking, why do you have all these scars because I know those weren't from an avalanche?" "I'd rather not talk about it if that is okay with you," I reply. "That's okay," she says.

"Well I'll leave you two too talk. Honey, this is Kori she's the one that found you and pulled you out of the rubble," "Thank you, um-," "Mrs. Brandywood," she replies. "Thank you Mrs. Brandywood," I say. "You're welcome-," I hesitate before telling her my name. "Rose, Rose Winters," I say looking down.

"You're welcome Rose," Mrs. Brandywood says, leaving the room. I hear footsteps walk closer to the cot I was sitting on. I sit my hand out towards the sound saying, "Rose Winters," I feel another hand grab mine and the girl from earlier say, "Kori Evengale," the girl says. "So you live here?" I ask. "Not for that long," she replies. "So you really are Rose Winters, as in the leader of the Dragonborn?" Kori asks. "Only every day since birth," I reply. "So what are you?" I ask.

Kori sighs before answering, "I don't really know," "How can you not know?" I ask. "It's a long and depressing story," Kori says. "If you tell me your depressing story, I'll-I'll tell you mine," I compromise gesturing to myself. Kori puts her hand on my shoulder and my vision becomes clear.

I turn to her confused. "Think it will be easier to tell these stories if we can look each other in the eyes," She says. I nod. Kori begins, "Well, I've never known my parents but when I was younger ..."

"What do you mean your powers aren't working?" Lizzy asks. "Are they gone?" "No," I reply. "It feels as though there is a physical block in front of them," I gasp, "What if it is the mountain?" I ask. "Well something obviously pulled us out of your transportation method whatever it was called," Lizzy says.

"I've never heard of something that could do that though," I say. I hear some rocks fly across the corridor behind us. Freezing I call out, "Whose their?" When no one responds I pull out one of the swords that I had brought from the sanctuary and decided to take back. Handing it to Lizzy asking, "Ever used a sword?"

"In fencing class," Lizzy responds. "Well this is a real sword and can kill someone so be careful," I say. "You should have enough knowledge to be able to defend yourself," "Right and if I don't?" Lizzy asks. "Let's not think about that," I say, "You'll be fine, probably," I add when she looking over the blade.

"A human and a Winter Dragonborn," a strange voice cackles. We both turn around and see a man standing there. His appearance makes us step back slightly. He has skin so pale, it's translucent, so that you can see his veins underneath. His hair is long, green, and stringy. Then he has fangs that go from his top jaw to just past his chin. With long menacing claws and a shredded lab coat, which were probably shredded by the claws, he looks gruesome.

"Minions!" he cries out, "Attack!" Red globs fall off the wall and build up to create different creatures. Manticores, griffens, and so much more. They all glare at Lizzy and I, "What do we do?" Lizzy asks. "We follow the old saying, 'Stab first, ask question later,'" I say right before jumping towards the mob.
