(A/n: If we can get five votes on this chapter, by this Sunday, the next time I update will be two chapters or one very long chapter!!!!)
Sasha
"Where are you guys going?" I ask Jake and Jack as they get up and begin moving around the camp. "I've got a bad feeling," Jack says, "and Jake's coming with me." I look around and notice Brianna and Rose are gone. "Where's Brianna and Rose?" I ask. "That is what we're worried about," Jake says. "Wake the others up just in case we have to make a run for it," Jack says taking off into the woods.
"Be careful," I whisper to Jake. "Hey," he grabs my hand, "I'll be fine," then he follows after Jack.
...
"What's taking them so long?" Kaveri asks, mad at me for waking her up. "I don't know but I'm sure-," I get cut off by Jack and Rose running into the camp, Jack carrying Jake. "What happened?" Lizzy beats me to the question. "Nathaniel," Rose growls. Jack lays Jake down on the ground.
"Where's Brianna?" Paige asks. "She betrayed us," Jack replies looking down. Tears gather up in Paige's eyes and she turns away from the group. The other girls, excluding Rose and Kori go over to her. I kneel down next to Jake. His eyes are clamped shut and he's continuously muttering to himself.
"-too much. Can't control. They'll die or leave, just like everyone else," He seems to begin hyperventilating. I need to calm him down. "Jake, listen to me, whatever's happening in your head is not real. Don't focus on that, just focus on my voice."
"Please, no more voices, too much-," Jake whimpers. "Don't focus on the other voices, focus on me, listen to me," I grab his hand which is shaking and place it on my shoulder. Slowing my own breathing so he can hopefully copy my breathing and stop hyperventilating.
His breathing begins to slow and he whispers, "Sasha?" "Yes! Listen to me and only me," I respond grinning happily. Jake nods and his body relaxes. "Go to sleep I'll wake you when we leave," I whisper to him. "Don't leave, please," he replies. "I won't." Jake drifts off completely relaxed, his grip on my hand loosens slightly.
Rose
I sit down beside Sasha, "Thank you," I say looking into the forest. "For what?" Sasha asks looking confused. "He needs someone," I respond. "You won't tell the others will you?" Sasha asks, knowing I had caught on. "The only other person that knows about what just happened is Kori, everyone else is discussing Brianna's betrayal. And if you would like, I can tell them I calmly him down."
"Yes please, I don't want anyone to know yet, someday yes, but not yet," Sasha says. "You know Rose, Jake's not the only person who needs someone," Sasha adds turning to look in the direction. "What are you insinuating?" I ask turning to Sasha. "Nothing, nothing," she replies lightly, "it's just that you seem a bit lonely at times and I've seen you cast glances at a certain person ...," Sasha leaves the comment hanging.
"I'm not lonely, I prefer to not be around other people," I reply trying to defend myself, but knowing it's pointless, "And as for the second thing-Well even if I did occasionally look at a certain person, which I don't," I hastily add, "I know he would never see me as anything more than a friend."
"Rose, I say this because I am your friend." Sasha begins. "Are you trying to convince me or yourself?" "I don't even know anymore," I respond. "I'm gonna see what's going on over there," I say, standing up and pointing to the rest of our group talking. "I'll see you when we've decided what to do," I say and Sasha nods.
"Care to join the chaos?" I ask Kori as I pass her while walking to the rest of the group. "I have nothing better to do," she responds standing up and following me.
"-We need to move now, if we don't then they could just come and pick us off," Leo insists. "But not all of us are ready to move," Kaveri argues back, we all know she's referring to Paige. "We give those who need to rest two more hours then we leave," I say interjecting into the conversation.
"I agree with Kaveri," Luke says, "What about Jake or even Jason?" "I'm fine, I don't know what you people are so worried about," Jason complains. "Still we should stay-," Luke begins. "We can't risk staying Luke," Leo exclaims. Leo turns to Jason, Jacob, and Jack. "Back me up guys," he says.
"Leo says we need to leave, and Rose says we leave in two hours, sounds like we're leaving," Jason sighs. "I-I agree with Jason," Jacob says. "The reason our parents are dead is because they failed to read the signs and they stayed put. I'm not going to fall to the same stupidity," Jack states his case.
"But-," Kaveri and Luke begin at the same time, before I cut in. "Butts are for sitting and as I said we leave in two hours." Luke sighs accepting the decision. "I'm sorry Paige, but we have to move on," I sigh. Kaveri glares at me, "How could you be so heartless Rose," She growls. "It's not like we are going to be any safer in your so called sanctuary. The only difference is that if they capture us it's a shorter distance to their dungeon," Kaveri growls defending her sister.
I turn away and begin to walk away when she calls out, "You're only walking away because you know I'm right! Oh, but I guess you're not as affected by the thought of a dungeon are you?" I pause. "Kaveri, stop," Paige whispers. "It's fine," "Paige you know I'm right, we could all die!"
"Kaveri," Paige replies. "we could have died back at the school, we could have died the first night, from the fire, in the mountain, Rose, Jake, and Jack could have not come back, but they did and we're still alive." Paige stands up and comes over to me.
She wipes her eyes, which are rimmed red. "Two hours," Paige says nodding then goes over to where her bag was lying. "You okay?" Lizzy asks appearing behind me. "Yeah," I whisper. "No you're not," she whispers grabbing my hand. Leading my away from the group, Lizzy wraps her arm around my shoulder. Once we're further away, Lizzy kneels down on her knees and takes me down with her. She pulls me into hug.
I wrap my arms around her and hug her back. I suddenly feel a drop of water run down my cheek. I didn't think it was going to rain, wait that's me, the dams finally broke.
Tears stream down my face with no sign of stopping. I feel Lizzy clutch me tighter.
(A/n: Hey guys I know your all probably really mad at me, but I wanted to give you this chapter and I will be completely honest. (I know I say this every time but) It's very hard to want to continue updating this when I'm getting no response, although I did check the other day and saw this story reached over 500 views which I was very excited about. I would still like some feedback please. Also I have been talking with some of my author buddies from fanfiction.net about checking out my story and giving me tips. and that's been kind of hard because I don't have an account yet so the only way we can communicate is through my reviewing/commenting and them replying in the next update. Also I have been doing color guard practice a lot, be it with the group or on my own and my knee (ha, ha, get it? I know I have a sad life,) feels like it's about to break as does my wrist. I will try to get a new chapter out as soon as possible but please comment.)
