You know those days when you wake up, the sun's shining, the birds are chirping, and you just know everything is going to be great? This is not one of those days. As I pull myself out of bed, I look at my alarm clock. 7:30. Wait. Oh no, school starts in thirty minutes. And of course today of all days. We're taking the last semester final.
I slam my head against my pillow looking around my 'room' I sigh. My room is really the attic. Me, a rusty old bed, and a bunch of old boxes and furniture. The room itself is originally extremely small so I feel like I'm living in a closet. Everything is covered in dust so I'm always sneezing at night. Which makes the owners mad, which leads to ... never mind.
In addition to getting up early I have been feeling sick since Sunday night. My head is pounding, I feel like I'm going to throw up, and I'm pretty sure I have a fever. Of course a fever for me is very bad because, in my natural form, my body temperature is normally around 40-50 degrees. In my human form it raises up to around 94 degrees. So I feel like I'm dying right now.
I run to my bag of clothes, throw on a grey tank top and pull a violet jacket on over it. Quickly pulling on my jeans while brushing my teeth at the same time. I force my feet into a pair of converse. I grab my bag and walk out the door combing down my hair with my fingers. I pause after I close the door.
Turning around and running back in, I grab my holographic watch that I made a few years ago in the sanctuary. I also close my laptop and shove it in to my bag and close it. Then run out the door again. Take two.
I run down the stairs and into the kitchen. Grabbing an apple and my skateboard off of the wall, I run out the door before Mr. or Mrs. Black can catch me. I look at my watch and see that it says 7:45. Still got time. I can't be late. Again.
I hop on my skate board, pull my hood over my face, and open up my text messages on my watch.
Rose-Lizzy: What testing room am I in?
Lizzy-Rose: 307. Good luck you're in Courtney's room.
Rose-Lizzy: I guess I'll grace her with my presence ;)
Suddenly I run into a something. As I fall of my skateboard, my hood falls off my face. I look up and see Frost. "What are you doing here Frost?" I ask. "Looking for you," he responds. He looks at my face and I reach up for comb my hair over it. But he grabs my wrist and I tense up. "What happened?" Frost asks looking at the bruise forming on my face. "I had an incident in figure skating yesterday no big deal," I say yanking my wrist out of his hand.
"Now what are you doing here," I ask. "Well, you weren't at the tree we meet up at and after ten minutes you still weren't there. So, I came to see if you were okay." He hesitates. "Well I can handle myself," I say, "and furthermore you need to quit stalking me like an overprotective mother bear." "Did you just call me a stalker?" He asks. "And a girl," I say smiling. "Now, I'm not going to be late for my benchmark because of you!" I exclaim and take off on my board. I hear him sigh and follow me.
Once we get to the school we have five minutes to get to class. I quickly run to the library and call out, "Miss Simmons can I leave my board here, I don't have time to take it to my locker?" The schools librarian is honestly one of the nicest people ever. With her porcelain skin, dark brown hair and bright green eyes, not to mention she's only twenty two, the boys are always staring.
Miss Simmons comes out of her office and says, "Yes now come here honey we'll take care of that bruise." "Miss Simmons, uh thanks for the offer but I have to get to class," "No you sit down and I will call Mr. Gonzales," Miss Simmons insists. Putting my hands up in surrender I sit on a chair in her office and look in her little mirror while she's on the phone.
