Please Excuse Any Mistakes

But that could only last so long.

"Lacey? Carter?" I heard Evan yell from somewhere in the house "Is it fine if Gwen and I go over to the ice cream parlor?" He continued.

I sighed and scooted over towards the place we put our feet to get onto the roof.

I heard Carter groan from where he was sitting "Every time we're up here, we always go down because of Evan. Stupid fun ruiner" he said childishly.

I stifled a laugh and jumped onto the tree, going back through the window.

I landed on the ground of my room and stood aside for Carter.

Unlike my quick, somewhat graceful landing, Carter tumbled into the room, making a loud thump with his fall.

I didn't stifle my laugh this time.

I bursted out laughing at my best friend's attempt to land on his feet.

I buckled over with laughter and fell to the floor. Tears sprung at the corners of my eyes.

I was having the kind of laughing attack where you laugh once but then you just can't stop laughing because the scene or whatever you laughed at, keeps replaying in your head.

So now, I was curled up into a ball on the floor laughing and crying while Carter whined about me.

"So are you fine with the parlor or no?" Evan yelled again.

Carter jumped in, "Ya, sure. But now I have to deal with your idiot twin" he yelled down, insulting me.

With that my laughter stopped.

I reached my hand over and slapped his ankle. I looked up at him, "If anyone here is an idiot, it's you"

Carter let out a short laugh before he helped me up "So now what?"

I thought over the question, "How about we make a short video to put into our jumbled mess of this weeks video?"

Carter nodded and walked over to my desk and opened my laptop. Why he went to my laptop? I don't know why. If anything, he should be going to grab the spare camera next to my laptop.

Instead, he sat down on my desk chair and started working on my laptop.

So this is how it goes, on weeks that we decide to make a video at Carter's house that involves us doing a Q&A or some challenge, we add any vlog clips to the very end of the video.

If we are doing a vlog that week, we would take any clips we have and make them into one video, adding dates on each clip that starts off a new day.

Carter opened my laptop and went to my video folder. He searched through it before he perked up and opened it.

I walked over to his side and looked at the screen. It was showcasing an image of Carter with his arm wrapped around my shoulder while I hid my face, putting my head on his shoulder.

He was smiling as if reminiscing on the memory, "Sophomore Year, sometime in the beginning of the new year. We both decided on not getting a romantic date but instead, went together. Jerry and Macy both went together but some how, we all ended up in our group again,

"It was a pretty good night actually," he finsished.

A smile made its way onto my face as well as a remembered that night.

-Sophomore year dance-

The four of us were sitting in a booth that had been rented and placed off to the side of the decorated gym.

Jerry was wearing the classic black tux with a lilac tie, due to Macy's dress being lilac. Her dress reached just above her whiles and the lace sleeves went down to her wrists. The lace connected to the sweetheart neck line, a deep it in the back. The whole dress being molded to her.

They both of course looked amazing.

Carter and I were going as friends and not as a romantic date, even though his mom and my parents, who were able to be home to take pictures, kept gushing over how cute we look together and how happy they were that finally we started dating.

But we cleared that up fast with saying both of us are losers and couldn't get dates so we are going together. As friends.

They were really disappointed in the news.

But that didn't stop both moms from helping me with my dress, makeup, and hair.

My dad ended up helping tie Carter's knotted up tie, knotted by Carter's many attempts.

My mom had put my hair up into a fancy bun, my brown hair having braids mixed into its up do.

Carter's mom had insisted on giving me a dress that was Carter's cousin's, which she had left when she visited and said she didn't want it anymore.

It was a royal blue dress that fluffed out at the bottom and was covered in sequins at the top, a sweetheart neck line present.

Sure, it was a bit too sparkly for me but it wasn't like I could choose from a million dresses.

My mom had gone with a more natural look of makeup instead of layering it on.

Carter and I still had to take pictures together but it wasn't too bad.

Especially if your best friend has a pretty face.

When we arrived at the school, everyone had looked at Carter and gushed about his looks. I was glad I wasn't noticed. I doubt I would have been though, I mean I was wearing a classic blue dress.

We both found Jerry and Macy and spent a couple hours just fooling around with them.

The four of us danced a bit together, except Carter and I split off from Macy and Jerry when the slow songs came on.

But Carter had convinced me to slow dance with him at least once.

I rolled my eyes as we came to a stop in front of the unoccupied stage.

Jerry and Macy both were dancing off a bit farther, swaying to the beat.

Carter placed his hands on my waist as I put my hands on his shoulders.
It was a good thing I was wearing heels.

I smiled up at him. I moved my hands to the back of his neck as he pulled me closer.
He wore a small smile, "Hey, we've gotten the dance experience now haven't we?"

I nodded as we swayed to the music.

We continued moving through the slow dance up until a more fast pace song came on and we both danced wrong like idiots, the sweet moment still remembered.
A repetitive thought I had was, 'I really don't want to loose my best friend'.

---

"Ya, I remember" I said quietly.

I still don't want to loose him.

I reached over and grabbed my camera from beside the laptop.

"Now let's get working?" I asked.

He nodded, still smiling and stood up.

He sat down on my bed as I set up the camera.

After the camera was set up, I set it to a timer to start recording in 1 minute and went over to the bed, taking a seat next to Carter.

"We're taking dares and truths from our viewers" Carter said simply.

I'm F*cked.

My eyes widened at the thought of what they could ask.

Then the camera let out a quiet click, signaling that start of recording.
