Please Excuse Any Mistakes

"I need your help" Jerry told me as he stopped me from going into the cafeteria.

I furrowed my eyebrows, "With?" I asked.

He took a quick look around the hallway and pulled me to one pair of doors that lead outside by grabbing my arm.

We stopped after we walked along the outside wall for a couple feet. Jerry let go of my arm. He looked back at me and sighed.

"Ok, so you're a girl, you know what girls like, yes?" He asked hurriedly.

"Uh ya?" I asked, confused of why he was asking.

"Ok, so Macy is your best friend after Carter and I'm her boyfriend. So, I need you to help me come up with an idea on how to ask her to our prom" he finished.

I nodded and thought over the idea, "Ya, I can help," I agreed, "But prom is still like two or three months away?" I asked.

He rolled his eyes "I'm not the only person asking now"

I nodded again.

He sighed again, "Just head over to my house after school so we can make a plan"

About to ask a question, Jerry cut me off, knowing what I was going to ask, "And yes, you can bring your little dog" he said, referring to Carter. Over the past couple of years, Jerry has always thought Carter was like a little obedient dog when it came to me, obeying everything I ask for and sticking by my side.

Really, that's Carter being Carter. He's just too friendly and caring for his own good.

"Yeah sure I'll check with Carter and see if he's able to come, which he probably will be with his lack of social events he needs to attend but I'll be coming either way" I said with a smile.

Jerry sighed in relief and his lips turned up, forming a smile, "Thank you so much Lacey," he said, "I would have been so screwed if I didn't come up with a good way to ask her" he finished
and turned to walk back into the school. I followed behind him.

Now that prom was on my mind, I'd have to ask Carter if he was asking anyone this year. Maybe it will be that mystery girl that I just can't figure out.

If he isn't asking anyone, we'll both probably end up going together as friends. Like every year's dance.

Surprise, surprise.

Welp, at least I can annoy Evan about trying to get him to ask Gwen.

'Cause that boy is not getting out of my annoying pestering.

I reached the cafeteria doors and walked behind Jerry as he pushed them open. He held them open as I walked through, followed by Jerry. He used to never hold doors open for people, the little poor mannered bitch, but ended up picking up the habit when he started dating Macy. To sum it up, he treats her like a princess, she loves it, they are in love, they used to hate each other and blah blah, cliche, blah blah and have been dating for almost 2 years. So now, Jerry has picked up some manners in the past two years because he wanted to 'clean up his act', Macy's words.

We both walked over to the usual table. I saw that both Carter and Macy seemed worried, sitting in their usual seats. Well, I mean it is unusual for one of us four to be late but two? That's damn worrying.

So when Jerry and I walked up to the table, Macy jumped up and planted a kiss on Jerry's face and Carter sprung up and encased me in a hug. They both started sputtering stuff about thinking we both died.

See? If one person shows up late, it's unusual. If it's two, ITS DAMN WORRYING.

I'm not surprised at all that they thought we were dead. In our group, the two of them are the worriers, where Jerry and I are the ones who don't worry as much. Jerry and I are the ones who don't stand out. Macy being the one who had an epic transformation to the beautiful, kind girl she is. People always assume she's popular until they see her with Jerry and me. Carter is the one who has great looks, expected to be a jock, and assumed popular until he's seen with us.
