Evelyn's P.O.V
If there was one thing I hated about tonight's championship game, it was the other team.
The mere look on their faces told me they were serious, and ready to demolish. They looked ready to destroy, and as I sat on the bleacher next to Lily, Dylan, and Tyler, I became nervous for our team. It was being played here at our field, so everyone was attending. I think even my parents mentioned something about wanting to come, and Josh, well he was here hitting on girls, and talking with his friends. I rolled my eyes as I looked over at him.
Everyone started to stand and cheer, and as I looked over at the field, I noticed our soccer team jogging onto the field.
I got worried when I didn't see Blake at first. I rolled my lip into my mouth. Everyone on the team was now huddled on their side of the field, and I closed my eyes.
If I was nervous, I couldn't imagine what the team must be feeling right now.
The crowd started cheering louder, and I noticed a figure walking with the coach. I sighed in relief when I realized that Blake was next to the coach. His expression was blank, and even though I was somewhat far away, no signs of worry or nervousness aligned his face.
"Excuse us," a deep voice interrupted my train of thought. I turned my attention to the unusual voice behind me to see three men in suits. They pushed past a family to the empty bleacher spots that no one was sitting in behind me.
A nauseating feeling overcame me, and I realized just who these three men were.
They were the college recruiters that had come to see Blake play.
They all sat down at the same time, and I looked at their suits. Yep, definitely top notch people. Maybe not top notch like Harvard, but I could see they came from exquisite colleges.
I faced forward, and drew my attention towards Blake who was with the coach and the other teammates. The coach nodded his head in my direction, and for a second I thought they were talking about me, but then I realized that he was talking about the three college recruiters sitting behind me.
Blake turned his head to look at them, our eyes meeting for a split second before he raised them to above me. I could see his eyes widen from where I sat, and he quickly looked at the ground. He was definitely showing how he felt now, and I could almost feel what he was feeling as well. Heck, they were sitting behind me. I would feel nervous as hell, too.
Blake's gaze met mine again, and I gave a short little wave, along with a small smile. He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and turned his attention back to his teammates.
Everyone was beginning to sit back down, and it wasn't until I felt Lily's tug on my shirt, that I realized I was still standing. My eyes never left Blake's figure as they began to warm up. I could hear small murmurs of peoples conversation around me, and I heard the men behind me begin to talk.
"So, which one is Blake Carter again?" The same deep voice said.
"He's number 12, in the blue jersey." A rough voice replied.
"He better be as good as his coach said he was. I don't want to leave here disappointed." The same deep voice mumbled.
I snapped my attention away from Blake, and turned my head around to face them. "Oh trust me, you won't be." I intervened.
