Evelyn's P.O.V

"Shhh.... She'll hear us. On the count of three. 1, 2, 3!" All of a sudden, I shot up in my bed when I heard silent whispering. I saw my parents and my brother beaming at me with huge smiles.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Evelyn. Happy birthday to you!" I sighed in relief when they were done singing. Let's just say, my family were terrible singers.

I couldn't help the big smile on my face as they held out a cupcake with a candle in it. "Make a wish sweetheart!" My mom exclaimed. I closed my eyes, trying to think of a wish. When I thought of one, I opened my eyes and blew out the candle right as my dad snapped a picture.

"Dad!" I whined. I had bedhead, and groggy eyes. I didn't exactly look like a princess at the moment.

"Sorry sweetie, but you're 18 now. Gosh, where did the time go?" He wrapped an arm around my mother, and they both looked like they were on the verge of crying.

"Mom, dad." I groaned out, rubbing my sleepy eyes. I heard my brother start chuckling. I shot him a look, but he only grinned.

"Alright, why don't we let our princess get dressed now." My dad said.

"Please," I muttered out. They all gave me more big smiles before leaving my room, while shutting my door on the way out. Okay, now time to get ready.

An hour later, I was showered, dressed, and make up ready, before I had to eat breakfast. Since it was a special day, I decided on wanting to dress cute. I was now wearing a yellow summer dress that flowed halfway down my thighs. I picked out a pair of sandals to match. I left my hair how it naturally was, but curled it in some parts to make it look prettier. After, I put on some eyeliner and mascara. I headed down to eat, already smelling my breakfast. It was a tradition that on my brothers, or my birthday, my mom would make pancakes for us. Any kind of pancakes we wanted. Of course, I always picked chocolate chip pancakes, which were the best.

My mom had already set out my pancakes on a plate. Three stacked high. I checked my phone, already noticing I had five messages.

One was from Lily, saying she wished me a happy birthday, and that she would see me at school.

Another one was from Dylan, which was just a plain happy birthday text.

Tyler had texted me saying that it was about time that I was 18.

The other two were from Kelsey and Abby. I was kind of shocked that they even remembered my birthday.

I felt my stomach quench when I realized Blake hadn't sent me a text.

Blake.

Ever since that party, things had been different between us. I didn't know, maybe it was just all in my head. I mean it's not exactly different. I just felt like he was hiding something from me.

I shook my head, trying to get rid of my absurd thoughts. I'm sure Blake remembers my birthday, maybe he just wanted to wish me a happy birthday in person.

With that thought, I dug into my pancakes, not even caring about the fact that I probably looked like a pig stuffing my face.

"Hey, don't worry. I'm sure he hasn't forgotten your 18th birthday Ev," Lily tried to reassure me, but it didn't seem to help because my stomach twisted into a bigger knot.
