Evelyn's P.OV.

It's kind of funny how a couple of months can change your life completely. I had low expectations when I first moved here. I didn't expect to fit in right away. In fact, I was fully prepared to go through the year with my head buried in my books. So far, I've made many friends, including one of my best friends now, and I'm not failing school. And now I've met an amazing guy who went from being a close friend, to my boyfriend for a little more than a month and a half.

"Hey dad!" I greeted my father with a happy expression. He turned around from his desk, smiling instantly when he saw me.

"Evelyn, what are you doing here?" He said as he stood up to wrap me in his bear hug.

"Are you not happy to see me?" I joked.

He frowned. "Of course not sweetie... but I'm interested to see why you're here on a Friday night when you could be with your friends instead." He ruffled the top of my head, knowing it was something that I had always hated him doing. I pushed away from him as he went to go sit back down.

If truth be told, I missed my dad. We hadn't really been able to spend time together because he worked all the time, and when he wasn't busy I was usually hanging out with my other friends.

"I wanted to come and see you, I never seem to see you enough anymore." I stated, frowning a little. There was a brief silence as my dad quickly glanced back to his computer screen, refreshing the page.

He loved his job, it was obvious. This was the only reason we moved- so he could pursue his dream job. After his old job as manager at an appliance store, he often applied for this job all over the U.S., but they had always declined him because since he wasn't in the same area as the job. Finally he had applied for the job in Florida, not expecting to get it, but here he was sitting as a photo journalist. I could see why it was difficult to get a job as a photo journalist. I mean, it wasn't like news people were just sitting around waiting for someone to apply for a job. Surprisingly though, the news place fired their previous one and were looking for a replacement with the correct requirements ASAP.

"Well I should probably leave you to your work..." I said after debating whether or not I should wait for my dad to leave or just leave on my own.

I stayed for a few more minutes as my dad and I chatted about school and life back in Montana. I felt an ache fill my chest as I realized I would be leaving for college soon and I would never get these moments with him again. I tried not to think about it. As much as I was ready to graduate and be done with high school, I wasn't ready to leave my family behind to live on my own.

I said goodbye to my dad with a saddened heart. Just as I had exited the building, I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket.

I smiled as I read the message from Lily.

'guess who's throwing a party tonight?? okay i'll tell you... DYLAN!! it was planned last minute bc his parents just left & won't be back until tomorrow morning.. bleh, bleh, bleh anyways mind swinging by and picking me up?!'

I had been trying to hook Dylan and her up ever since she had told me she liked him.

But it wasn't exactly easy. Especially since Lily was so shy around him and Dylan.. was, well himself.

I got tired of asking Dylan all kinds of weird questions that Lily wanted to know about him. So I finally told her to grow some balls and ask him out. The worst he could do was say no.

Instead of heading to my house to watch a movie on the couch snuggled up with a bowl of popcorn like I intended, I swung by and picked up Lily.

"Okay, I've finally decided tonight's going to be the night I ask Dylan out." She breathed out in rush.
