Evelyn's P.O.V.
“Aren’t you coming?” Lily asked me as we walked out of the school and into the parking lot. I nodded my head as I looked down at the ground.
“It’s going to be okay Evelyn,” Lily tried to reassure me. I waved her off.
“I’ll be fine.” I lied. Lily accepted my answer and started talking about spring break.
I ignored her.
Not on purpose. But my thoughts drifted to another place. I felt the pain in my heart as I remembered the look on his face; the look that made my heart split into two, or what felt like it.
ONE WEEK EARLIER
Two weeks. It had been two weeks since the accident. Two weeks he has been in a coma. I kept waiting for his mom to call me and tell me he’s awake. But she hasn’t. And I’m starting to think that she’ll never call.
Everyone at school was worried about him. But I didn’t think they should be when the majority of them didn’t even know him. They’ve heard of him. Maybe even talked to him a couple times. But they didn’t know him like I do.
“Hey, do you want to come over after school today? We can have a girl’s Friday night out.” Lily bumped her shoulder against mine. I smiled at her. The idea was tempting.
Except, what if Blake woke up when I was out with Lily? I wanted to be there when he wakes up. That’s why I try visiting him every day after school. Even on the weekends.
“I know you’re thinking about being there for him Ev,” I sighed and picked at my lunch. I didn’t have the appetite. I haven’t really had the appetite for the last two weeks. “Please,” she started. She gave me her signature puppy dog look. I shook my head.
“That may work on Dylan, but not me.” Lily continued doing the puppy dog look. I stared at her.
“Stop it,” I said. Her eyes got bigger and I couldn’t help it anymore. That look bothered me. “Fine! We can have a girl’s night out!” She clasped her hands together.
“Great!” She exclaimed.

Six hours later, Lily and I were in the middle of Just Dance when her phone rang.
“Ah, poo. I was just about to beat you,” she said, as she paused the game and answered her phone. I walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge and grabbed a water bottle. The cool liquid felt good on my tongue.
A second later, Lily walked into the kitchen. “Dylan says we can come crash his house for awhile.”
I shrugged at the idea. “I don’t care.” I stated. Although, it was supposed to be a “girl’s night out.”
Lily looked at me. “What?” I asked.
“Don’t just say you don’t care. Do you want to go over there or not?” She folded her arms. But when she did, she accidentally knocked my opened water bottle that I held in my hand. It spilled all over me.
“Evelyn, I am so sorry!” She gasped and threw her hands over her mouth. I stared at the water spilled all over my shirt and jeans. After a few seconds, I started laughing. And then I couldn’t stop.
