Evelyn's P.O.V

"Home sweet home!" Josh exclaimed as he practically ran out of the moving car and sprinted towards the door. I watched him get halfway up the driveway before he tripped over his own two feet. I couldn't help it as I let out a loud laugh. My parents soon joined in on the laughter along with me.

It was good to be home.

"So, tell me about Montana. Was it fun? Did you see your old friends? Did you fall in love?"

I flinched at Lily's spoken word of love. Ever since the thought occurred to me that I loved Blake, I hadn't been right. I didn't like the rumors about him spending more time with Katie, more than me. I didn't like that we had a fight right before I went on vacation. And I certainly didn't like that we hadn't called or texted at all while I was gone.

I supposed I could have given him a text to let him know that I landed safely, but I couldn't bring myself to dial or text his number. The only word that ran through my head was love. I despised that word now. Nothing's bad about it. It's just I didn't expect to fall in love my senior year. I didn't expect to fall in love when I was18.

But I guess that's the funny thing about love. You can't help but fall.

"So have you, um, talked to Blake yet?" Lily asked me after I told her about my trip to Montana. I shook my head, even though she couldn't see me.

"No." I responded.

"Well I think you should..." She told me. I could tell that she was hiding something. I knew her too well to know that she was acting suspicious.

"Lily," I said, my voice firm. "What are you hiding?"

It was silent on the other end. I laid back on my bed and closed my eyes. Sighing, I started to speak up again, but Lily beat me to it.

"I can't tell you. I mean. I can. I-" I heard her groan on the other end.

"Lily, is there something going on with Blake?" I asked, getting worried now. Why did something have to happen when I was in love with the guy?

"Umm... got to go. Talk to you at school tomorrow!" She hung up before I could even say anything else.

There was definitely something going on.

The only question was, what was it?

The next morning, I felt good. Glad to go back to school and see my friends, but dreading to do schoolwork. I never called Blake at all last night, and he never called me. He knew I was getting back today, and we both know that we got into a stupid, silly fight.

Something was going on, I could tell. And when I got to school, I definitely knew something was up.

"Why is everyone looking at you like that?" Josh asked me as we walked through the hallways.

"Don't know..." I said, feeling really self conscious all of a sudden.

"Well, tell me why later. I'm going to meet up with Jake and see what drama missed." He left me standing alone in the hallway. I tried ignoring the people staring, and walked briskly to my locker.

"Hello!" A familiar voice chirped too brightly.

I looked around my locker to see her smiling too widely. Instead of saying anything back, I continued to sort through some of my books, and thow them into my backpack. When I was done, I practically slammed my locker shut. I turned to face Lily.
