After trying on the dress in the bathroom-as promised- Ana helped me get ready by curling the ends of my hair and doing my make-up. She didn't need to curl it much because my hair is already naturally wavy and Ryder once told me I didn't need make-up so I told her not to cake my face with it. And she didn't, instead she made me look natural because as we where sitting in the car Ana had insisted I ride shotgun since Michael was driving and she wanted to be far away from him, so I spent the whole ride to school looking at my face in the rear view mirror trying to be preoccupied so I wouldn't get nervous or awkward thanks to the silence that had settled in. I thought one of them would talk and break the silence but none of them did until right now. As we where sitting in the auditorium of the school.

"Do any of you want anything to drink?" Mike asked yelling a bit to be heard over the teens talking rather loudly. We where sitting right in the middle row, with a perfectly good view of the stage where Ryder would be singing and I purposely chose the last seat so Ana had to sit in the middle of us, otherwise she probably would've told me to be the barrier between them and I just wasn't going to let that happen.

"Sure, I'm craving some pink lemonade." I tell him turning to look at him and he nods in my direction, turning to look at Ana expectantly.

"What about you, Annie?" She visibly tenses up at the nickname and stares at him quietly.

"My name is Ana, and I don't want anything."

"You sure?" Mike asks her not breaking eye contact and she huffs out a breath ready to answer him but I beat her to it.

"You should just go with him and see if there's anything you like, maybe they have Dr. Pepper." I say knowing that was her favorite soda but she only turns to me with her mouth in a frown and her eyes throwing daggers in my direction. Mike nods and stands up.

"That's a great idea, come on Annie." He nods towards the auditoriums door and Ana sighs standing up and walking out after him. She was definitely going to be mad about what I just did but I'm sure we can work it out, after all I'm just trying to help them.

I sigh and look around the auditorium, it's really crowded. I didn't actually think anybody liked these types of activities in our school but apparently I was wrong since the teachers and students actually took it as a serious contest. I bet Ryder wouldn't actually care about the prizes and the trophy. I laugh out loud at that thought and I hear someone laughing next to me, when I turn my head I'm welcome by the smiling face of Kyle.

"Hey, there!" He beams brightly at me and that immediately makes me smile.

"Hey, I didn't know you came to these things." I say nodding towards the stage and he scrunches up his nose.

"Well...I sort of have to because I'm part of the school's year book team." I make an 'O' shape with my mouth in understandment.

"Do you at least enjoy it?" I ask him softly, and he nods his head excitedly.

"Oh yes! When it's events like these I do, very much. But I don't really like the chess tournaments-no offense if you're into those- it's actually quite lovely to see brilliant people working their complexed minds but the silence kills me! I don't know how the people that watch in the audience do it, I just can't be quiet for more than 5 seconds." He laughs loudly and I giggle at his rambling.

"Anyways, now that we've establish how boring chess is and my excuse for being here...tell me about you, why are you here?" He smirks at me, like he knows something I don't and I squirm slightly on my chair.
