Typical.
Here I am sitting at a table with three people staring at me with my dad pacing behind my chair. It was getting awkward until Dad speaks up.
"Why are you here?" Dad asks.
"Hello to you too." I say.
"Ana. Answer the question." Dad says.
"All right, all right. Mom kicked me out." I mumble.
"Why?" He asks.
"I guess people don't know art if it punches them the face." I say.
"Where did you spray paint this time?" Dad sighs.
"The side of the house." I say.
"Ana." Dad sighs.
"I know. But I could've sworn where we come from supports juvenile acts." I say.
"Will you ever be allowed back home?" He asks. I pull a note out of my pocket.
"She sent this for you." I say. Dad snatches the note and starts reading it. As he scans over the paper I look over to the other people.
"So, who are your friends?" I ask.
"They're not my friends. The man is my boss. And these are his children." Dad says.
"Am I not worth knowing their names?" I ask. Dad puts a hand up signaling me to be quiet. He groans in frustration.
"Ana?" He says quietly. Oh crap. I'm done for.
"Yes?" I reply. Dad slams the letter on the table, making the three people jump. I flinch and sit there staring at the letter.
"My lord. Can you please send your children away? This is something critical." Dad says. The man waves his hand, dismissing the teenagers. They get up and walk away.
"You haven't had a soul yet?" Dad asks when they're gone.
"Um, Dad." I say, gesturing to the man.
"He knows. Now answer the question." Dad says.
"No." I say.
"Why not?" He asks.
"No one wants to make a contract with me. They say I can't handle it." I defend.
"How are you supposed to handle it if you don't practice?" He asks.
"How should I know?" I ask.
"Ana, please shut up." Dad says.
I sigh and slump I'm my seat.
"I'm only 16. Cut me some slack." I say.
"Slack? That's pathetic. I got my first soul when I was younger than your age!" Dad says.
"Sorry I'm not perfect like you. Mr. Perfect Demon. Getting souls whenever you feel like it." I say, getting annoyed.
"I'm not perfect." Dad says.
"Right. I forgot. You're just simply one hell of a butler. My bad." I say, sarcastically.
Dad glares at me and I return it. He growls slightly and I roll my eyes, crossing my left leg over my right and folding my arms.
"I would have thought you'd be more understanding." I say.
"I would have thought you would actually behave yourself." Dad says.
"You're telling a demon to behave? Have you been in the human world that long?" I ask.
"You need to behave if you are staying with me." Dad says.
