I watch Celeste
as she paces the room in her night gown. I lean casually against the wall with my arms crossed.
"Are you going to go to sleep any time soon?" I ask in a bored tone. Seriously. This chick needs to go sleepy by so I can go see Colton.
"Sebastiana. I can't sleep. Why do you think I called you in here?" Celeste asks. I cringe when she says my real name.
"Please. It's Ana." I say.
"Why do you hate the name Sebastiana so much?" Celeste asks.
"I don't hate it." I say. "I don't particularly like that it's closely related to my Dad's name but." I say.
"Why do you go by Ana then?" She questions. Normally, I don't like it when people ask me this. But I'll make an exception if it means she'll go to sleep so I can leave.
"Why do you really want to know?" I ask.
"Because. Whenever someone calls you Sebastiana, you immediately get defensive about it. I was wondering why you are like that." Celeste says.
"I'll tell you on a couple conditions." I say.
"What?" Celeste says.
"First of all, you will not refer to me as inferior than you. I hold your life in my hands. Next, you can't tell anyone about this, not even Allie. I will find out if you did. Lastly, after I tell you, you need to go to sleep. Alright?" I say.
"Fine." Celeste says sitting down in her bed.
"Alright." I take a seat at the window.
"My father and my mother had what you humans call, a fling. But it wasn't like I love you and two months later it was like nothing happened." I start. Celeste listens quietly and is providing her undivided attention.
"Well my mom found out she was pregnant with yours truly, but she and my dad got into a fight and he left before she could tell him and blah blah blah.
My mother was so in love with Dad and when I popped out, I apparently reminded her of him and she gender bent his name and gave me the name, Sebastiana."
Celeste giggles slightly at the comment. I smirk slightly.
"Unfortunately for my Dad, he had left some super important thing at Ashley's place and went to get it, then he met moi. I've never seen him so surprised." I say.
"So Sebastian never knew. How old were you when he met you?" Celeste asks.
"When I was 800." I say.
"800? I thought you were 16." Celeste says.
"I am. 1600." I say.
"But Sebastian said he was 26." Celeste says confused.
"2600. He was only 1000 when I was made. In a matter of speaking in demon term, he was technically 10 when that happen." I say.
"So you're 16 in demon term?" Celeste asks. I nod.
"So I was 8 when I met my Dad. He wanted to be involved with me and stuff and always stopped to visit and stuff. Before now, the last I had seen him was when he took this job when your dad was 12.
My mother liked to compare me to my dad and stuff. When I did something that he would do, she would say to do it better. My mother was kind of stupid too. Saying Dad would never stop to pet cats and stuff. It's like she never met him. I've seen that happen. But overall, I kept getting your father this, your father that, don't do that, your father never did." I explain.
"So you started to go by Ana instead of Sebastiana." Celeste says.
"Sebastiana made it like I was trapped in a cage of my dad. Ana seemed like a completely different name, so I go by that." I say.
"I had no idea. I'm sorry Ana." Celeste says.
"It's cool. Now you need to go to sleep." I say getting up. I open the door about to step out.
"Hey Ana."
I look back at Celeste. She giggles a little.
"I hate you, damn demon." She smiles. I chuckle.
"I hate you too, brat." I say. Celeste laughs and turns over to sleep. I shut the door and wait for Ashley.
...
"Wow, you're late." Colton says as I walk into the woods.
"Wow, you came." I say, mimicking his tone.
"Well if you're willing to defy your dad, I can defy mine. Though that's absolutely insane for you to do." Colton says.
"I'm a demon. I'm supposed to be insane." I say. Colton smiles.
"So what did you need?" He asks.
I hand him the envelope and watch him open and read it.
"Hunter needs us to do a job, when we're done here, I have to go to the Reaper Library." I say.
"You're going to ask Greyson?" Colton asks incredulously.
"Unfortunately, he's the best we can get." I say.
"Fine. I'll help. But what about Allie and Celeste? Alois and Ciel won't let us bring them on something like this." Colton says.
"Tell Alois that you are taking Allie on vacation while he and Claude are in France." I say.
"How do you know they're going to France?" Colton asks.
"How do you know?" I ask.
"Fair point." Colton says.
"You worry about Allie, I'll worry about Celeste. Now, I need to get to the Reaper Library." I say.
"I'll come with you. You need someone to remind Greyson of the actual situation." Colton says.
"Alright, let's go."
