"So what's Jayce's problem?"

I ask Ana as soon as she walks back to the wall.

"I have no idea. Something about me being reckless." She says while chuckling.

I can easily get lost in her eyes. I have no idea why, but her eyes are so unique. How the pupil is surrounded by the black and fades into the bloody shade of red. Completely beats the faded gold of mine.

Over the years that I've known Ana, I have fallen in love with her. But when Jayce keeps popping onto the scene it's going to be hard to tell her how I feel. Then again Jayce feels the same way about Ana as I do. My question is, how am I going to get Ana to myself?

"Colton? You alright?"

I snap out of my thoughts and look at her.

"Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I be?" I ask.

"I don't know. You had an irritated look on your face. I thought something was wrong." Ana says quietly.

"No. I'm okay. I promise." I say. Ana nods and looks back onto the party. She has a distant look in her eyes, like the one she always has. Though it was far away, I still fell in love with them.

It feels good to be with Ana again. But I can't help but remember the conversation we had before I was sent to my dad.

*flashback*

Scrape. Scrape.

That's all I heard as Ana and I was sharpening our stars. Her eyes were still puffy from crying. I sat silently still working on the sharpening, not knowing what to say.

"Will you stay long enough to finish these?" Ana's voice broke the uneasy silence. I didn't say anything, thinking. Still listening to the sounds.

Scrape. Scrape. Scrape.

"I should. I'm not leaving without six of these. I couldn't do that. It also would give me more time with you." I said.

"Or you can not go up to the surface." Ana said.

"You know I have to." I said. Ana slammed the pieces of metal on the table. She looked at me with tears filling her beautiful red eyes.
