Ari, Zayn, and I stayed at the hospital and slept until the sun came up the next morning. I don't know why Zayn stayed, but he insisted and I didn't see why not. But, we had to go to the hospital store to get him a new shirt since his was covered in dry blood.
At 8 am, I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I opened my eyes and saw Ari and a nurse standing before in front of me.
"C'mon, we need to fill out forms and so does Zayn. The police are here to ask us about the accident." I lifted my head up and realized that I had fell asleep on Zayn's shoulder. Right as I lifted my head, Zayn stirred in his sleep.
"Zayn," I said, trying to wake him. "Zayn!" His jolted awake. "What?"
"The police are here to see us and we need to fill out forms."
"Oh yeah." He rubbed his eyes then put his hand up to his shoulder. "Why does my shoulder hurt?" He asked, moving it around.
"Oh I uh fell asleep with my head on your shoulder." Ari snickered. Zayn just rolled his eyes.
Zayn, Ari, and I followed the nurse onto the first floor and to a small waiting room, where a couple policemen were already waiting for us. One of them held out his hand and Zayn kindly shook it.
"Good morning, sir," Zayn said. I was surprised at his sudden appeareance of manners. Where did that come from?
"Good morning. My name is Charles and this is Noah. We just wanted to ask all of you a few questions about the accident. Please have a seat." We all sat down on the waiting chairs. Another woman came over with two a couple clipboards and pens and handed them to us.
"You need to fill these out since Carter is unable to. It's okay if you don't have all of his information. I'm sure you won't know everything." She smiled at us then left. Then the other policeman started his listed of questions.
"So, Zayn, you were the one who saw the accident happen and you brought him here, right?"
"That's right."
"Can you tell me what happened?" Zayn explained to Officer Charles everything that he had told me last night, while Noah took notes. "Did you see how the driver looked."
"Not exactly, but it looked like a man to me."
"Ok, and what about the car? License plate?"
"I don't know the liscense plate number, but it was a red car, I think a Honda."
"Did you notice anything odd about the situation or where you were?" Zayn thought for a moment.
Well he picked up something off the road and that's when the car hit him. It kind of looked like a photo, but I'm not positive."
Noah pulled out a ziploc bag with a piece of paper inside it. "Did it look like this?"
"Yeah, that's how big it was." Aria looked up from the clipboard.
"May I see it?" She asked. Officer Noah nodded and handed the bag to her. She let out a small gasp. "This is picture of Carter and his uncle. They hate eachother. But, how could've this gotten here? He lives all the way in Montana."
"Well, now that you've told us this, I'm sure this is going to be easy to solve, because this doesn't seem like an accident." Then, Officer Carter turned to Aria.
"And you're his girlfriend?"
"Yes."
"Do you know anything more about the relationship between Carter and his uncle?"
"I don't know much more. They had issues a couple years ago, but Carter never told me why."
"Oh. Well, that's unfortunate. It's alright though. I'm sure this is enough information for now." Both officers got up, as did we. We all shook hands and then they left after thanking us. Aria and I finished filling out the forms and then handed them to the lady at the front desk.
