For a few days, I steered clear of any social interactions besides work, of course. I hadn't tried calling Jake and he hadn't tried calling me, but maybe it was meant to be that way. I honestly didn't even know if we were technically broken up and I didn't want to find out because I was dreading the truth. I shouldn't like him if he doesn't trust me, but I couldn't just get over him. I mean, I loved him. I kept telling myself that only time will tell, but time is taking a hell of a long time.

I was curently going over to Aria and Carter's, where they held a whole dinner for all of our friends. I wasn't too keen on going, but I convinced myself that maybe being with friends will help me. Nobody actually knew about Jake and I though.

I pulled up in front of their apartment and walked in without knocking. I was one of the first people there.

"Hey Ari and Carter," I exclaimed, hugging them both one at a time. "How are you?"

"Still crippled," Carter answered. Ari rolled her eyes dramatically then answered herself, "We're doing great Nikki. Thanks. Carter is just being stupid."

"When was there ever a Carter who didn't have the slightest bit of stupidity?" I asked, jokingly.

"Haha Nikki, you're so funny," Carter retorted. I set down the apple pie I made on the table and helped Aria in the kitchen.

Next to arrive was Ivy and Xander, followed by Scarlet and Jacob. They all greeted us and hung out in the living room, watching the basketball game. It was all fine until... Jake showed up. When he walked in, we made eye contact for a split second, then I quickly looked away. Ari saw me and raised her brow. Once Jake had went into the living room, she pulled me aside to ask me what was wrong.

"Jake and I aren't on good terms." I explained. "He might've broken up with me, but I'm not sure."

"Why? What happened?"

"Zayn." As soon as the word left my mouth, the doorbell rang.

"Well that might be a problem," Ari said, chuckling nervously.

"You invited Zayn?!" I whispered loudly.

"Well it was Carter's idea! I didn't know."

"Oh god. This is going to be one hec of a night," I groaned. I walked out to the foyer to open the door, but Jake had beat me there. He opened the door and when he realized it was Zayn, I could almost see the anger bubbling in his eyes. But, what he did next I couldn't even begin to comprehend.

Jake lifted his fist and punched him in the face, knocking him over and making me fall to the ground. A few gasps escaped from a couple people.

"Zayn!" I yelled and ran to him and knealt down. His nose was bleeding and the corner of his lips was swelling.

"What the hell is your problem Jake?!" I screamed.

"Are you seriously taking his side? You're my girlfriend!"

"Not anymore I'm not! Now get out before I physically kick you out!"

"You'll come running back. You'll regret this!"

"You wish!" I spat. Jake walked out of the doorway, but before leaving he pointed at Zayn and said, "You'll pay for this."
Zayn just grunted in response. With that, he left, leaving all of us frozen in shock. What had just happened.
