The sequel to The Missing Lyric finds Nick & Demi dealing with full time parenthood, now that they have legally become Lyric's parents. Being full time parents with two crazy careers, while also trying to keep their marriage intact has its challenge...
After I finished my conversation with Demi, I laid down & started scrolling through the pictures I had taken of Lincoln with Demi, my mom & Lyric. I smiled, while I was looking at the photos, then I started reading some stuff online. I was into an article, when I heard Batman bark. It only happened once, so I took that as I sign I needed to put my phone down so I could try to get some sleep. It was always hard to sleep in my bed without Demi. Anywhere else, I was okay, for the most part, but, in the bed I shared with her, I had a difficult time falling asleep. Tonight was no different & I tossed & turned, for quite a while.
Just as I was dozing off, I heard more barking. Even though it was faint, I could still hear it & couldn't fall asleep with it going on. I figured it was Batman getting spooked or surprised, but then the barking didn't stop, so I opened my eyes & sat up. I listened closely, growing concerned that I didn't hear Lyric trying to shut him up. When I saw it was one in the morning, I felt a panic come over me. I threw the covers off of me & jumped out of bed, not even bothering to get a robe. I was wearing my boxers & a tank top, so I wasn't naked, if someone was trying to break in or something.

When I got to the hall, I heard Batman scratching at Lyric's door from the inside, so my heart started beating harder, in my chest. Something was wrong. Batman was trying to tell me. He was looking out for Lyric just like he looked out for Demi when she fell. What if someone managed to get in the house to kidnap her again?

I ran into Lyric's room & was relieved when I saw her in bed. "Batman. You are gonna wake the neighbors. Did you just want out?" I whispered down at this dog, who had no idea what I was saying. He wagged his tail, then started jumping up & down. I shushed him, but that only made him jump higher, then he started yelping as he ran to Lyric's bed. He jumped frantically, trying to get up on her bed, which he's never been able to do & he knows this. I looked at Lyric, suddenly realizing that she wasn't waking up with all this commotion.
