The Note and Calls : Chapter Twenty-Six

Beth's POV

I woke up cuddled up next to Jake.

"Morning, sweetie." Jake said looking into my eyes.

"Morning, Baby." I said as I picked that nickname for him.

We smiled at each other and I snuggled into his chest.

"Morning, Beth!" Jane said.

"Morning, Jane." I said.

"We should get going." Jake said.

"Where?" I asked.

"To the jail, remember?" Jake said.

"Oh, yeah." I said as I rolled off the bed and fell on the floor.

"Are you okay?" Jake asked.

"Yeah." I said as I got up.

I walked into the bathroom and saw a post-it on the mirror. It read:

Matt wouldn't be happy about this. I will see you soon along with Matt.

"Jake..." I said panicky.

He ran in the bathroom.

"What's wrong?" Jake asked concerned.

"Look at this." I said as I handed him the note.

He was reading the note then looked up at me with disbelief. Jake walked out of the bathroom and grabbed his phone.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm calling the police." He said as he called.

Hi, Davenport Police Station.
Hey, um it is Jake Finn and I have Jane and Beth Jones in the room. We got a hotel room and found a note on the bathroom mirror when we woke up.
Okay what is your room number?
204.
Okay we will be there.
Okay thank you.

I saw Jake hand up.

"What did they say?" I asked Jake.

"They will come." He said.

I walked over to Jake and hugged him. Jake hugged me back gently.

"It'll be okay." Jake said comforting me.

"It will never be the same." I said crying on his comforting shoulder.

Jake just hugged me a little tighter knowing there isn't anything else to say.

Someone knocked on the door and Jake went over and looked through the peephole. He opened the door and an officer and detective walked in.

"Where's the note?" The detective said.

"Right here." Jake said as he handed it over.

"Do you have any other information on who this could be?" The detective said.

"No." Jake said.

"Do you?" The detective said to me.

"No." I said feeling as if there is no hope.

"Okay. Well stay safe and we are going to take this note down and look for fingerprints." The detective said.

"Okay, thank you." Jake said as they both left.

I flopped on the bed and started to cry into the pillow. Jane came over and gave me a hug and I hugged her back.

"Beth, Can I talk to you?" Jake said to me.

"S-sure." I said still crying.

I walked over to Jake and he sat on the couch that was in the bedroom.

"Beth, everything will be okay." Jake said.

"No, it won't." I said.

"Baby, it will. I will keep you protected. You won't have to worry about anything." Jake said.

"I know you will protect me but I just know it will never be the same again." I said crying hoping he would correct me and make me change my mind.

"Beth, I know everything will work out... you just have to give it time." Jake said.

"I know but what can I do about this? Now we have two people coming after me. Why don't you just leave me? I am going to get you hurt." I said knowing I would.

"Beth, if you hurt me it would be my honor. You are too precious to leave. I love you and that will never change. I will make sure you and Jane are safe. I will never leave you." Jake said.

"Jake, I love you too. I just don't want you getting hurt." I said crying even more.

"Beth, as long as you and Jane are safe everything will be okay with me." Jake said.

"I love you. I don't ever want to lose you." I said.

"I don't ever want to lose you either." Jake said.

"I love you, Jake." I said as I hugged him.

"I love you too, Beth." Jake said as he hugged me back.

*Ring Ring*

The phone rang so I went over and answered it.

?:Hey
Beth: Who is this?
?: someone you never want to see again.
Beth: Tell me who the hell you are!
?: That would ruin all my fun though.
Beth: Oh go screw yourself!

I threw the phone hanging it up and fell to the floor crying.

"Baby, What's wrong?" Jake asked.

"I will never escape this." I said.

"Baby, what are you talking about?" Jake asked confused and worried.

"I-i can't do this." I said crying and wanting to crawl in a hole and stay there forever.

"Baby, you have to work with me." Jake said as Jane ran over worried.

"I can't." I whispered as I put my legs to my chest.

Jake lifted my head up and kissed me. That shut me up.

"Baby, what happened?" Jake asked after he took his lips away.

"S-someone c-called me a-and said I-i d-don't want t-to see them a-again." I said still crying.

"Who? It can't be Matt." Jake said.

"I don't know." I said.

Jake pulled me into a hug on the floor and Jane got down and hugged me too.

*Ring Ring*

"GO SCREW YOURSELF!" I screamed at the phone.

Jake rubbed my back as he hugged me.

*Ring Ring*

"GIVE IT UP!" I screamed at the phone.

*Ring Ring *

I ran over to the phone attached to the wall and went to rip it off an throw it out the window but before I could Jake wrapped his arms around my waist holding me back.

"Fine. I'm going to answer it." I said.

Hello? What the hell do you want?
It's not what I want it's what I will get.
Well what the hell are you gonna get???
You.
Tell me who you are!

"He freaking hung up on me!" I yelled.

"Come here." Jake said holding his arms out for me to jump into his arms.

"I'm done. I am going to end this NOW." I said as I grabbed his keys and ran out the door

Jake grabbed Jane and ran after me. I jumped in his truck and started it.

"Your not going alone." Jake said as he put Jane in the back and climbed in the passenger seat.
