Jessie : Chapter Fifty-Two

Beth's POV

I woke up in the hospital with Jake sleeping while he was still holding my hand. Smiling at his actions, I saw Jane walk over to me.

"Beth, I'm really glad you're okay." Jane said as she was beside my bed now.

"Me too." I said smiling.

"So, are you and Jake together?" She asked trying to hear gossip.

"Yes." I said smiling at her.

"Wow, you're lucky!" Jane said smiling.

"I know." I said smiling.

I looked around and didn't see my mother anywhere.

"Where is mom?" I asked Jane.

"She has a surprise, just wait." Jane said.

"Okay." I said excited to know what the surprise is.

I waited wondering about the surprise.

"Hey, Beth!" My mother said as she brought in a bag and Jack.

"Jack!" I said holding out my hands for him.

She probably didn't bring Rain because she is a little skidish and could scratch my wounds.

"And..." My mother said handing me a bag.

I smiled as I took the bag out of her hands. Jack was cuddled up beside me. Opening the bag, there was a smart phone in it.

"Thanks mom." I said remembering my old phone.

"No problem, Beth." My mom said as she started to pet Jack.

"Oh yeah, and I took Jack to the vet and turns out he is now a she." My mom said which made me laugh.

"Wait, your serious?" I said.

"Yeah." My mother said.

"Okay, then it's Jackie!" I said smiling at my new name for HER.

My mother smiled at me and I turned on the new phone to set it up.

"Jake, phone number?" I said snapping at him.

"Oh yeah." Jake said.

I got my mother's number, Jake's, and Anna's number in my phone. I just now realized how antisocial I really am...

"Wow, no friends much?" Jake said kidding with me.

"Oh shut up." I said smiling as I rolled my eyes

Jake smiled at me and I started to download some needed apps. Getting on facebook, my notifications were blown up.

"Oh my gosh." I said as I looked at all the strangers that posted on my timeline.

"Wow. Nevermind, you must have a lot of friends!" Jake said smiling at me as he grabbed my hand.

I rolled my eyes at him and scrolled through the posts.

She is a true miracle, that she survived that.
Beth Jones is an amazing role model.

I stopped scrolling at that post.

"I can't be a role model. Look at this and this." I said as I went to point to my wrist and stomach but saw bandages.

"Baby, you are. You have fought through ALL of this. No one could last through that much." Jake said which made me smile.

I kept scrolling through the posts.

How did she survive that? Angels?
Who would do something like that?

"Matt would, that's who." I said out loud to the person.

Truly an amazing girl.
Impressed with this girl!
She survived that horrible treating of Matt and the truck incident. Wow.
I don't understand how she survived. 10%...
Jack and Rain are beautiful.
Beth, if you are reading this, I want you to know you are who I look up to. I will never give up knowing you have been through much worse. You are truly my hero.

I looked at the image of the last person. It was a teenage girl. Starting to cry, I wiped a tear. I went to reply.

I feel honored to be your hero. Jessie, you are beautiful. You can make it through anything.

I replied and then friended her.

"Hey, I bet that's another phone number for me!" I said to Jake before I stuck out my tongue at him.

Jake smiled at me as I scrolled though more comments.

What made Matt so screwed up?
Plot twist: Derrik is Matt's father!
Beth is an inspiration.
I wish I was as brave and tough as Beth.
Let's not forget about Jane! She was kidnapped and threatened with a knife. But yes, Beth is great and inspiring.

I started to reply to the last comment.

Yes, Jane was. It is sad that he did this. And thank you.

The posts and comments went on and on.

"Well look. Jessie accepted your friend request." Jake said.

I smiled at the accept and messaged her.

Hi.
Oh my gosh. You are my hero. You don't know how much I look up to you.
I can imagine. You are great yourself.
I just can't believe I am talking to you.
Yeah, I never thought my life would change this much.
Yeah, I can't imagine that. How are you healing?
Healing well, thank you.
Hey, I got to watch out for you. :)
:) yeah, I'm a mess.
Wow, I'm a mess too.
:) can I get your phone number so I can text you?
Sure, its ....

Once I got her number, I put it in my phone and saw my four contacts.

"Okay, I'm hoping this is the end of people kidnapping and attempting to murder me." I said.

"It is." Jake said smiling.

I smiled at him and petted Jackie.

"I missed you, baby." I said vigorously petting her face.

"Woof woof!" Jackie barked.

I smiled at her happy little face and thought how free I feel from Matt, Derrik, and my father.

"This is great." I said out loud to Jake, Jane, and my mother.

Jake smiled at me and so did Jane and my mother.

"Hey girlllll!" Anna yelled as she walked in the doorway.

"Anna!!!!" I yelled as she came over and gently hugged me.

"How are you? Are you okay?" Anna asked.

"Yeah, I'm good." I said smiling at her.

"Oh, is this the little corgi you found?" Anna asked.

"Yeah, her name is Jackie." I said smiling down at Jackie.

"Awwww.... Hi, Jackie." Anna said as she petted Jackie.

"She is adorable!" Anna said smiling at Jackie.

"Yeah, she really is!" I said looking at Jackie.

"How long do you have to stay here?" Anna asked.

"A couple of weeks." I said.

"Oh." Anna said.

"I will go get some breakfast." Jake said as he started out the door.
