Notifications : Chapter Twenty-Two

Beth's POV

We arrived at the hospital and visited my mother in her room.

"Hi, mom." I said.

"Hi, Beth." She said.

"Hi, mommy." Jane added in.

"Hi, Jane." She said.

We smiled at each other and I noticed Jake was sitting in the corner of the room smiling because I was happy.

"So what happened?" My mother asked.

I told her the WHOLE story including how Jake has been such a help.

"Wow." Was all she said.

"Sorry girls, but I am tired so I am going to sleep."My mother said.

"Okay. We love you mom." I said for both Jane and I.

"Love you too!" She said as she closed her eyes to rest.

"Okay, Jake I'm ready." I said.

"Okay." He said as he got up from the chair.

"Sorry." I said.

"For what?" Jake said.

"For making you come down here at like 3 in the morning." I said.

"I would want someone to help me like this if this happened to me. Trust me, it's okay." He said.

"Thanks." I said as I smiled and we walked out the door.

I went to pick Jane up since she fell asleep but Jake beat me to her.

"I got her." He said.

I smiled and we walked out of the room and out of the hospital. Jake put Jane in the back and buckled her up while I got in the passenger's seat.

"Thank you, again." I said

"No problem." He said as he smiled.

He started the car and drove out of the parking lot. We got on his road and he pulled in the driveway.

"Okay, we're here." He said.

I got up and opened the door to the house. Jake followed with Jane in his arms. He set Jane on the couch and she slept.

I grabbed him and hugged him tightly. He was surprised at first but then gently hugged me back with his comforting arms.

"Are you tired?" He asked.

"Not at all." I said

"Me neither." He said.

I smiled and he smiled back a little shy like.

"How about you go on facebook? You have SO many notifications. Lots from me and your mom." He said.

I smiled and nodded. Jake walked over to the desk in the corner and turned it on.

"Here, just put your information there." He said as he got up from the chair.

I sat down logging in. Once I got in, the notifications where blown up.

"165,392 notifications for friend requests and a bunch of statuses made on my page. I looked in the messages and saw my mother's messages...

Baby, where are you?
Sweetie, I need an answer.
Please. I am going to call the police.
I called them.
Baby, where are you?
Come home.
I love you.
Please come home.

Then I looked at Jake's messages.

I know we don't talk much but I miss you already.
Your mother is worried.
I am worried.
I am coming to look for you.
Please answer.
I can't find you. Please come home.

I looked at Jake who was leaning over my shoulder blushing.

"I'm here." I said as I smiled at him.

He laughed and smiled back.

"Where did you look for me?" I asked.

"EVERYWHERE IN IOWA, Illinois, Missouri." I looked everywhere and constantly checked your social media for ANYTHING even something as small as a like." He said.

My heart melted and I felt a warn fuzzy feeling. I knew I liked him so I took a bold move... I got up from the chair hugged him and let go. Before I completely let go, I kissed his cheek. I watched his facial and body expressions for any sign he liked me too. Then he smiled a huge grin. I loved the sight of that beautiful smile.

"Ewwwwwww!!!!" Jane said covering her eyes.

Jake and I both laughed as I went over and gave her a kiss on her forehead. She smiled at me. Jake came over to her and kissed her hand like a prince.

"Okay, I approve of him." She said smiling.

Jake and I both laughed. I grabbed his hand and smiled at him.

"You gonna answer your messages?" Jake said.

"Well it is a little too late now, huh?" I said.

"Guess you're right!" He said.

Jane was on the couch asleep again.

"Beth, did Matt hurt you in anyway?" Jake asked.

"Well he messed with my mind and threatened to stab Jane. So yeah, he totally did."I said.

"I'm sorry, I should have looked better." He said.

"It's not your fault. You did better than anyone else on trying to find me." I said.

"Yeah, I guess I did." He said as he sounded proud of himself.

I smiled and he grabbed my hand as he looked into my eyes with his emerald green eyes.

"I genuinely really missed you." He said.

"I missed like everyone!" I said as I was blushing.

"Yeah, I can believe it." He said.

"When is school starting again?" I asked.

"Sweetheart, it ended already." He said.

"What???" I said confused.

"Yeah, you're 18. You should have graduated." He said.

"I guess I can take online classes during the summer then." I said disappointed that I have to have school work in the summer.

"I can help you." Jake said which made me smile.

"I'd love that." I said.

"Me too." He said with his soft but deep voice.

I smiled and laid on the empty couch. Jake sat beside me and put his arm behind my back. I felt myself drifting to sleep in his comforting, gentle grasp.
