Chapter 1 - Choosing ceremony

Ro's Pov;
I am woken up by the sound of the alarm clock going of.Today is the day I choose my future.But if I wanna look good while doing it I have to get up now.I eventually crawl out of bed and over to the closet.Me and Uriah share a room.I look over to see him still asleep.He is so peaceful when he's sleeping.Too bad that's the only time he's peaceful.I get a jug of ice cold water and pour it down his shirt.His eyes shoot open and he screams.He jumps out of bed and starts cursing at me.
"What was that for"
"I don't want to be late" I reply as if it was obvious.
He storms out of the room and I go back to the closet.I pick out a black vest and a sleeves black jacket.I also pick out a pair of black shorts with tights.I head to the bathroom and lock the door I get dressed and look in the mirror.I put my hair up in a messy bun and do my makeup.I don't cake myself in makeup only add a bit of eyeliner,mascara and lipgloss.I get my boots on and go into the living room where Uriah currently is sitting on the chair.He glares at me and I just laugh.
"Let's go eat I'm starving"He says
"Okay"
My mother is probably still asleep.We head out the door and go down to the hall.It is currently 9.00 and the ceremony is at 11.00.Uriah and me walk in and straight over to our usual table.I sit down and greet the gang.It consists of Uriah,Me,Zeke,Four,Tris,Shauna,Lynn and Marlene."Yo Ro"Tris says and it makes me giggle.Me and Uriah grab our food.Uriah gets dauntless cake(surprise,surprise).I grab a chocolate chip muffin and a glass of water.We chat and after a while I check my watch.Its 10.25.We all get up and head to the tracks.We stand for a minute and then here the train horn blare.we start to jog and as the first car passes us we burst into a sprint.I pull myself in with ease and so do the others.The rest of the ride is silent,which is strange because we are dauntless.We jump out of the train and into the hub.There are 5 bowls set up,each one holds an item which represents the faction.Dauntless,hot coals.Abnegation,smooth stones.Amity,soil.Erudite,water.Candor,glass shards.Uriah,Marlene,Lynn and I are the only ones from the gang that are choosing so we have to sit up the front while the rest go back.Zeke hugs me and Uriah and so does our mom.We sit down and I zone out.Uriah picked Dauntless,Mar picked Dauntless.Lynn picked Dauntless.I come back to reality when I hear Marcus-the leader of Abnegation call my name out.
"Rosana Pedrad."
I get up and Uriah squeezes my shoulder.I smile and walk up to the bowls.Marcus hands me a knife and a band aid for later.I dig the knife into the top layer of my skin and hold it over the Dauntless bowl without a second thought.A few seconds later I hear the coal sizzle and Marcus calls out "Dauntless"I walk back to my seat and people start hitting my back and cheering.Uriah hugs me and I zone out again for the rest of the ceremony.I wrap my palm with the band aid that Marcus supplied earlier.The ceremony ends and we start to run out the doors and climb the railing leading up to the train platform.Most of the transfers struggle.The train speeds past and I get in with ease and start talking to my brother."We did it"He says
"Yeah I know"I reply in a duh tone.
He laughs and then it's time to jump off the train onto a fifty floor building in the dauntless compound.My body fills with adrenaline as I throw myself from the train and land on my feet on the building.The others soon follow and then we hear a loud voice "ok everyone listen up,I'm Eric a leader here at dauntless.You want in,you jump"he says gesturing to the ledge.Transfers gasps and I laugh.Eric looks at me with his light grey evil eyes and his expressionless face.I have seen him before but never spoken to him.He is tall and very muscular.He has a double piercing above his right eyebrow and a lip ring.He has tattoos on his neck,arms and who knows where else! "So who's going first?"he says sounding irritated. "Me" Uriah and I answer together.I look at him and say"me"he simply replied by saying "No,me"I get up on the ledge and so does he."me"I say "me"he says we do this for a while longer and then I say "Fine if you insist"and push him off the ledge.At this everyone is laughing except one person.Eric.He looks at me expectantly and with that I sigh and do a backflip off the edge.Haha bet you he wasn't expecting that!I don't know but he just makes me feel intimated and like I have to prove myself to him.I don't know why,But he doesn't scare me.

Erics PoV;

I'm waiting for the train to arrive from the hub.It should have been here six seconds ago.Ugh.Stupid initiates.I had to get up early this morning just to get the training room ready.I had to change the targets and sharpen the knives which I actually quite enjoy,but there is a catch.I had to do it with the one,and only (thank god) Four.I am snapped out of my thoughts by the train horn and initiates landing on the gravel.There is a lot of them this year.Mostly being dauntless born.They will train with Zeke and I as there trainers and Four and Tris take the transfers.Finally I get to watch some experienced people in action.

Once I know everyone is on the roof I take a silent but deep breath and say what I say every year."Listen up,I'm Eric,one of your leaders here at Dauntless.If you want in you jump"I say plainly pointing to the ledge.I look around.I hear some gasps,nothing out of the ordinary.But then someone laughs.I look around and lock my eyes with the culprit.Rosana Pedrad.I look away after a while and only hope I haven't been staring to long."So,Who's going first"I say with clear irritation in my voice."Me"both the Pedrad twins say together.They start fighting and then she pushes him off and everyone laughs,except me.J have a reputation to keep.Even though I wanna laugh so hard right now I leave my face expressionless.I wait until I know Uriah has been retrieved from the net by four and then look at Rosana expectantly.She eventually catches on and does a backflip off the ledge which I must say caught me off guard.I now have a light smirk on my face.She is really intimidating,I don't like her.I can't like her.

All the initiates are done and I'm on the roof on my own.The sun is setting and I look out onto the horizon.Its beautiful.I jump off the ledge into the net and see that four has already left with the transfers."I assume that you don't need a tour of the place"Zeke says playfully.God this is gonna be a long initiation.She will get me through it.Wait what did I just say?
