Chapter 37 - trackers

It has been about a week since we got our new tattoos, fully healed now. I roll over in bed to see Eric fast asleep. I giggle to myself and think about what a perfect life I have. Tomorrow is my and Erics 1 month anniversary. I know most would say we are moving to fast but I love him, that will never change so why slow things down?

Eric stirs and begins to get up. His eyelids open and he smirks. "Good morning" he says in his morning voice. "Morning" I chirp and without thinking I find myself sinking into Eric's chest. He wraps his arm around my waist all the way to my abs. His head rest on my shoulder and I lie my head ontop of his. We lie like this for a while and then I get up. I head into the bathroom and comb my hair through. I then brush my teeth and wash my face. I head into our closet and throw on a black tshirt and some shorts. "I'll cook?" He asks and I nod since the only thing I can make is toast. He heads into the kitchen and I just sit in the dining area.

After a few minutes Eric walks in with pancakes that are dusted in icing sugar. He also brings me a bowl of blueberries and strawberries. I look at the bowl and snatch it from his hands. I take the plate too and start to dig in. Eric sits across from me and eats his pancakes. I finish first obviously and then Eric finishes. We walk out into the kitchen and begin to wash the dishes. When done Eric decides to get dressed. I hear a knock at the door so I walk over to it and open it. To my surprise, it's my mom. I haven't seen here for about 3 weeks.

"Mom!" I say hugging her. "Ro this place is beautiful!" She says and I smile. I invite her in and she looks around the living room. As if on queue Eric walks back in and smiles "hello mrs pedrad." Eric says and mom stands up and hugs him. He smiles and I turn red from embarrassment. My mom sits down across from me and Eric.
"So Eric, who's your mom, mabye I could meet her for a coffee some time. She says and I just put a hand on Eric's back. "I don't think that will be possible, i don't talk to my mother" he says in a low voice and my mother nods. "What a pity. Look guys I better get going, I'll see you soon!" Mom says leaving the apartment.

"Are things really that bad with your mom?" I ask once she's gone and Eric doesn't move. "Did I ever tell you who my mom is?" He says and I nod, briefly remembering him saying she was Jeanines sister. "Yeah Jeanines sister" I say and he shakes his head. "Ro, my mother is Jeanine. My name is meant to be Eric Mathews. But I took my dads name, coulter even though I don't get on with him either." He says and I don't let my jaw drop. "Oh, well you don't need to have anything to do with her again." I simply say whilst hugging Eric tightly. "I love you" he says and I just squeeze him tighter. "I love you more" I whisper and he shakes his head. "Are we really doing that?" He asks laughing and I raise an eyebrow. "I love you more"
"No I love you more" I fire back. This goes on for sometime and then I hear another knock at the door. I stand up to open it and see it's Four and Tris. Guys apparently everyone is needed in the pit in 10" they say and I furrow my brows. "Who called the meeting?" I ask and Four shakes his head. "Jeanine Matthews" my eyes widen and Eric tries not to make a big deal out of it, he's so brave. "So are you guys coming or what?" Eric stands up and walks to the door not looking at me. He's scared I can sense it. Once he locks the door he puts his hand in mine, still not looking at me. We arrive outside the pit and my confusion spreads as I see a bunch of boxes of what looks like the aptitude test serum. Jeanine steps out in the middle of the floor and her eyes land on Eric for a brief second, then down to our connected hands, then up to my face. She squints her eyes for a second and then looks back to her audience.

"Hello everyone, your probably all, including leaders, wondering what I'm doing here today, well courtesy of erudite we are giving you all free tracking devices. Leaders it is not necessary for you to get it I don't think you'll be running away. We will install a few new computers to find any missing trackers and therefore find runaway people." She says and I roll my eyes. Before I know it Eric and max are being shoved up to the top to inject serums. I see Tris looking all lost and scared so I go over to her. "What's up?" I say. "We need to get out of here" she says reaching for my hand but I feel a stab in the neck from the back. I turn around to see Jeanine smiling innocently. I just look back to tris. "What were you saying?" I ask and she gets that same stab in the neck. "Nothing" she says and walks over to four who just engulfs her in a hug. Wow they're frackers hunny, is it your time of the month?

Once I'm done I go up to Eric who is still injecting people. "Will I wait orrr?" I ask and Eric shakes his head. "I'll be home soon" be says giving me a kiss on my forehead. "See you Soon" he says and I smile before making my way back to our apartment. After all it's our 2 month anniversary tomorrow. I run in home and lie on the couch. I watch a movie, 2 hours long, Eric still isn't home. I read 4 chapters of my book, still not home. I have sent about five text messages at this point, I'm really worried.

Bing, my phone beeps.

Aww cute he's drunk. How much has he had to drink I wonder, oh well. I sit across the couch and watch another movie. Then my phone rings and it's four.

"Did you find him yet?" He asks and I sigh. "He's fine sorry for startling you Four. I was just worried about him. He's out with a few friends." I reply. "Look I'm going to run to the store. Tomorrow it's our 2 month anniversary. I'm going to make him a special dinner and everything. Bye"

We end the phone call and I swear I hear running feet outside when I open the door. I head out and down to the only supermarket in dauntless. I head in and buy some spaghetti and ingredients for Meatballs . I buy some cheese and and salt and head to the till. On my way I pick up some vodka and beer. I pay and leave for home. On my way I pass by Mar and Uri's apartment. It's not half as big as mine but it's cute. When I get no answer I know no ones home. Oh. I walk back to my own apartment and put all the stuff in the fridge. I head in to my room and sleep. Eric should be home soon. I can't wait to wake up beside him on our 2 month anniversary.
