Chapter 7 - Cold

Erics Pov;

After I tell Rosanna to leave the infirmary and I walk her back,I head to my apartment to change into my swim shorts.

We are taking the initiates on a field trip.
We usually bring the dauntless born to the fence with the transfers,but this year we are doing something more exciting.

Once I have my black camo swim shorts on I walk down to the initiate dorm.

I walk slowly and realise that I told Ro to sleep,at least she got a few minutes rest.Just when I walk in some people are only going to bed so I whisper in my sickly cold voice

"Field trip,wear swimsuits they're in your compartment under your bed.Meet at the tracks infront of the compound.Be there in 10 minutes,make sure everyone is there."

with that I start running and I make a quick stop at my apartment on the way to the tracks.

I grab my flip flops and run to the tracks.
I write a note to the initates telling them to jump on.

The train circles around the compound and eventually on the second lap of the compound the initiates pile on the train.

Most of the girls are in bikinis and all the men are in swim shorts.All of these initiates,boys and girls are toned.

I notice Rosana looking at my sixpack.I don't actually feel uncomfortable.She does not look at it with hunger like most girls would,she looks at it in curiosity.

She is the only initiate who has seen me shirtless before.Because of the times we met in he training room after hours.

I always work out shirtless.We eventually make eye contact and she looks embarresed.
We break eye contact and she starts talking to her friends.

We finally reach our destination.Everyone jumps off after me.It's crocodile creak better known as the cliff.I speak up.

"Only rule,no skinny dipping.have fun".

With that everyone dives in.

I see a small female siluette standing on the edge.
I get closer and see it is Rosanna.She knows I'm here but doesn't acknowledge me.
I stand beside her and she says."Do you think it's cold?" I have an idea.

"Why don't you find out?"I say and push her over.

Unfortunately she grabs me by the wrist and pulls me down with her.
She doesn't let go of my hand until we hit the water with a splash.

IT'S FUCKING FREEZING.IT'S COLDER THAN MY FUCKING PERSONALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Bitch"is all I manage to say.

"Asshole"she replies before swimming off to her friends.
I know I should be surprised at her calling a leader an asshole but to be honest,this is a pedrad we are talking about.

Rosanna's PoV;
I swim over to my friends and they are confused.

Mar gives me a questioning look and I start to explain how he tried to push me over but I dragged him down with me and that he then Called me a bitch.

Lynn then asked. "What did you say?"
I reply with "I called him a asshole"and they all start laughing.

"you....called....Eric.....a...what?"Lynn says between laughs.

"An asshole"I say through a smile.

"Girl that death wish just keeps getting bigger and bigger." Marlene says and we all break out laughing.

We just relax and talk so it starts getting boring.
I say I have to use the bathroom and start to swim over to the rocks.
I pass the bathrooms and go to the back of the rocks.

I climb and climb and climb until I reach a gab in the stone.
It is big enough for me to walk through so I hunch over and start walking.

I start to hear gushing water and up ahead see the back of a waterfall.
I sit down and take in the beauty.

I hear steps approach and get a little tense but then I see the figure that can only be one man.Eric.
He doesn't say anything,and neither do I.

We just sit in silence.Its a comfortable silence though.Eventually I feel the need to speak.

"So you said about a party?" I say.
"Yeah.And you have to come."Eric replies.
"Is there alcohol?"I ask.
"Are we dauntless?"Eric says sarcastically and I just laugh.

I sigh and we fall into silence again.
"It's beautiful.isnt it?"I say,dumbfounded at the beauty of the waterfall.
"Yeah,I've seen nicer things."
"Oh yeah like what?"I say.
He hesitates and just says "sunsets,there my favourite."

I don't know how long it's been but eventually I get tired again.
The adrenalin was keeping me going but now I am just as tired as...Well a girl who hasn't slept in 2 days.

I start to fall asleep but wake myself up again.
"We should get going"Eric says helping me up.

We walk back the way we came,Eric pulling me along by the hand.
Once we can hear people again Eric lets go and I go over to my friends.

"That was a long potty break" Lynn says
"Do you want details?" I say
"No it's ok" she says and we all laugh.

Eric calls for us to go so we all climb the steps and get on the train.

The train takes us straight to the compound and we jump off.
I run to the dorm and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
I dream about Eric and I,At the waterfall.Talking for hours.Best sleep I had in days.
