Chapter 18- Match No.1

Chapter 18- Match No.1

After the fun day, it was the final day. The day of the match. I was shit scared. I woke up on my own in the morning since I practically didn't sleep the entire night. After taking a bath, brushing and combing my hair I changed into my basketball gear.

"I'm so nervous."

"So am I but I know for sure we'll win." Katie smiled.

All of us quickly assembled at the court to face out opponent. The first five playing were Lucas, Aaron, Rahul, Katie and I. Yup Lucas is playing. I just hope he doesn't injure himself worse than it already is.

The game started off with Lucas taking a jump start and tapping the ball towards Aaron. Aaron dribbled towards the basket and passed to me and I scored.

Katie and Rahul were our defenders and they were doing very well. The only thing that bothered me was Lucas. He is injured I can't pass the ball to him.

After one quarter

"Why are you not passing to Lucas?!" Coach yelled as we sat on the bench for the quarter break. I didn't answer.

I could see Lucas struggling with his arm I stitched. I knew this would happen. That guy should not be playing. If I told the coach he would get really mad.

"I want you to pass to Lucas." Coach lectured me.

"Fine." I muttered.

The next quarter started with the same players. I played along with Aaron and tried ignoring Lucas. He is hurt I can let him play at least today.

"Emily pass!" Lucas called as a defender approached me.

What did I do? I didn't pass and the defender took the ball from me and scored a basket. Great.... Just fucking great!

"Emily why didn't you pass the ball to Lucas?!" Aaron yelled. I just ignored.

I just shook my head in dismay and continued to play the game. Not like we had an option. This time Lucas got to start. He started off with directly running towards the basket. On the way he passed to ball to Aaron. Aaron gave it back to him and he scored. And it was half time.

"Emily you aren't passing! You want a one man show?! Bloody hell PASS THE BALL! How difficult is it to comprehend?!" Coach yelled.

"I'm not passing it to him." I said and walked away.

"Why not?" Lucas asked following me.

"Because you are hurt Lucas."

"Oh come on Princess! How stupid is that and since when do you care?"

"I don't care! I would do it for any human!" I argued back.

"Just forget it! I'm a man and I can still play!"

I don't know what happened but my knees went weak. Everything around was blurring. I had exerted myself while playing because I wasn't passing much. Lucas' tone seemed to trigger the tiredness. Then then everything went black.

*Lucas's POV*
In front of my eyes she fell to her knees. Before her body could collide with the ground, I caught her in my arms. She fainted right in front of me and I couldn't do anything.

"Coach! Aaron!" I called.

"What happened?!" Coach asked while Aaron snatched Emily away from me.

"She just fainted?" Aaron asked and I nodded.

"Oh I'm sure you did something you asshole." Aaron said.

"We don't have time for that. The match will start any moment." Coach reminded.

So we returned to the match. Instead of Katie and Emily we got two other girls and instead of Rahul we too another guy for the next half. In the end we won.

There was a red patch on my arm. The stitches were coming off. I signaled coach that I would be back and rushed to the meds. I told the meds that I got hurt while playing so they didn't ask anything much and I got away with it.

Comming back I realized everyone had gone back to their rooms. Well great. I went back to mine. I really wanted to go check up on Emily but I couldn't. It would show that I care. But I have one thing figured out, I certainly like Emily Williams.

*Emily's POV*
The sun rays hit my face causing my eyes to open. About a second later I scanned my surroundings and realized that I was in my hotel room and Aaron and Katie were asleep on the chairs.

"Aaron." I croaked.

"Em your awake!" Aaron said and quickly handed me water.

And as always things rushed back into my head. I didn't eat properly, I wasn't passing to Lucas, he yelled at me and I fainted due to exertion..... Wait..... What happened to the match?!

"Aaron did we win?! What happened?! How long was I out?!" I asked.

"Calm down you bullet train." Aaron said.

"Tell me."

"I will just get dressed and ready for the day first." He said.

"Wake Katie up for me." I said before getting into the bathroom.

I brushed, took a warm shower and got dressed in jeans and a hoodie. Walking out of the room I realized that Katie was up and dressed and so was Aaron.

"So?" I asked sitting on my bed.

"Well you fainted and Lucas caught you. Then Aaron blamed everything on Lucas." Katie said.

"I did not! Then Coach said we had to focus on the match. So we played and won. We took you to the infirmary where they pumped a bottle of glucose in your body and then we got you here." Aaron completed.

"Oh, but I'm fine now? I mean I can play right?" I asked.

"Yea." Katie answered.

"We have a game today?" I asked.

"No." Aaron said.

"So what are we doing?" I asked.

"Mom asked me to visit my siblings who stay here and Aaron, Lucas and you are coming with me!" Katie said.

"That's great!" I exclaimed.

"Oh just wait till you see them. You will regret you decision." Katie smirked.

They couldn't be that bad right? Little did I know.......
