I finish my food and look over to Alexa who is staring at me intently.
''Please stop.'' I tell her. She's been looking at me like that since she's sat down.
''Tell me.'' she demands. I groan loudly and mime grabbing her throat and strangling her. Her expression doesn't change, but her eyebrows shoot up. There is no getting out of this.
''Fine. I was really dizzy and bored and didn't feel well, so I asked Marcel for a hug and I almost fell asleep on his shoulder so he offered to take me home. Which was his apartment. And I slept in his room I think, and he slept on the couch.'' I mock a gasp.
''So nothing's happening between you two?'' she asks. I shake my head and suddenly she looks upset. ''I really thought you would connect, I don't know.'' I think she feels guilty for another failed attempt at setting me up with someone.
''He's cute. As in hot, but hot isn't appropriate in his case. But he's too shy, I don't know. We didn't really get along so smoothly.'' I clarify things, getting up from my seat. ''You're waiting for Zayn?'' she nods, so I leave the cafeteria to go to my locker. On the way I bump into Marcel. All the books he was holding fall to the ground and he giggles nervously.
''I'm really sorry, I didn't see where I was going, I'm so sorry!'' he says desperately, not looking up, only gathering his things from the floor. ''Please don't punch me!'' he begs.
I crouch down next to him, a feeling a sympathy coming over me at his last words. It wasn't even him walking into me, it was me walking into him.
''Marcel.'' he looks at me when I call his name, and a wave of relief washes over his face, but quickly disappears.
''You're not going to punch me, are you?'' he says innocently, scared like a little child.
''Of course I'm not! Jesus, Marcel. Are you ok?'' I don't even know why I asked him if he was okay. He nods slightly and we both get up.
''Don't lie to me.'' I repeat.
''I'm not. I'm okay. So far.'' he replies quietly.
''Where's your locker, I'll come with you.'' I smile and take half of the books on the pile he was carrying. He smiles slightly, dimples appearing and starts walking. I follow him to the other side of the building. Poor boy, he has to walk this much to his locker.
We stuff the books in his locker, and he exhales, running the back of his hand over his forehead.
''I've got gym class in half an hour.'' he mutters.
''Oh, me too! I'm gonna get changed then.'' I point in the direction of my locker. ''See ya.''
As I walk away, I notice some guys approaching Marcel and he starts to shake.
''Hello, princess. You look nice.'' one of them says, and the others laugh. I don't need to watch anymore, I run back to his locker and tap the bully on the shoulder.
''Hey, asshole!'' I call. He turns his face to me and glares. He's much bigger than me, but I don't really care. ''I apologize on behalf of Marcel for being smarter than you. Try to control your jealousy.'' I grab Marcel's hand and pull him towards me, I turn to walk away but then I look back at the guy.
''Oh, and Marcel always looks nice.'' I spit.
I walk away, hand in hand with Marcel, and he starts to sob. I stop on my tracks, and get up on my tip toes to hug him and let him cry into my shoulder. I liked it better with heels on, so I'm the same height as him. I rub his back as he cries.
''It's okay... shh. Marcel, it's okay.'' he pulls away and removes his glasses to wipe his eyes. He looks at me, and butterflies appear in my stomach at the sight of his perfect green eyes.
