Her name shows up on my phone's screen and I snatch it up immediately. I've been waiting for her to call me all day.

"Babe?" her voice is bored and she sighs.

"Hey. Is everything okay?"

"Kind of. Alexa wants us to go camping with her and Zayn. I really don't want to go." I get up from my seat at the desk and go lay in my bed. Talking to her is my favorite thing in the world.

"I don't like camping either; we don't have to go." Although going somewhere that isn't L.A. with her sounds so good, camping sounds the least appealing.

"Oh, Christ. This is bullshit. I thought at least you would enjoy it." she whines and I picture her perfect face pouting and her eyes basically asking me to put my arms around her.

"We don't have to go baby." I repeat.

"Yes, we do. Alexa wants us to." I stay silent and let my subconscious replay her words and her voice and what I get from the activity of my brain is that a) Alexa is pressuring Delilah into going and b) I like Delilah way too much.

It's friggin' scary, liking someone so much. I can't allow myself to tell her I love her because I simply know that the second I do, that will be it. I will be in love with her. As long as I keep telling myself she's just a crush - a really big one - my heart will be safe from any damage... but then Delilah's won't. What's the point in admitting we love each other if she's leaving anyway? She's leaving and her beautiful face and character will surely make other people fall foolishly for her, and she'll forget about me and my lame wardrobe and nerdy glasses.

"Marcel?"

"It's okay, I'll go with you. We can stay less or something." my fingers go up to my lips and I tug on them out of nervousness. I would normally love a spontaneous trip, especially with Delilah, but not camping.

"Okay. Thank you."

"I'd do anything for you, Delilah. When are we leaving?"

"Tomorrow..."

"Alright. We'll talk later then?" I really don't want to hang up.

"Yeah. Bye."

"Bye baby."

She hangs up but my phone is still clutched in my hand. Camping with Delilah... 'With Delilah' is the best part of it. Then again, Alexa and Zayn are coming along, and I don't know whether to be happy about that or not. I still haven't warmed up to Alexa and the way she treats Delilah, but I guess Zayn's alright.

I decide to pack and then go to sleep, even though I'd have plenty of time to sleep in the car tomorrow.

The next day, after doing my morning routine and eating, I pace around my room, thinking of anything Delilah might need that I can take. Medicine! I'm going to take some, but I really hope no one in our group will need it. I'm not supposed to be at Delilah's until eleven, so I sit with my mom in the kitchen and help her do the dishes.

"Where are you and your friends going honey? I mean what camping site?" my mom asks.

"Zayn said we're going to Mammoth Lakes."

"Oh, it's a really pretty place. I've been there a few times. It's a bit far though?" she frowns, looking at me for approval. I nod and then shrug.

"Yeah, but that what Alexa wanted."

"Who's Alexa again?"

"Delilah's best friend and roomie."

She nods and checks the clock.

"We better go, come on."

I go to my room to take my bag, and review everything I packed out lout to remember if I need anything else. My mom grabs the car keys and opens the door when suddenly she turns around.

"Marcel, don't forget your condoms, honey. I don't want to be a grandma just yet."

I feel my entire face heat up, because I have in fact forgotten my condoms. I go back to my room and grab them, stuffing them in my bag before my mom can see them. Not that she hasn't seen them yet.

She drives me to Delilah's apartment, and gives me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek before I get out.

"Bye, mom."

"Bye Marcel." she smiles and waits for me to get in the building before driving off.

I find Zayn waiting for the elevator there.

"Hey man." he nods to me, and grins.

"Hey."

We don't speak on our way up, I'm not really sure why. He's probably pissed that Alexa insisted on Delilah and I coming with them, but he should know that I am too. Delilah throws her arms around me and places a kiss on my lips after Alexa opens the door, making my heart back flip over and over again. She looks so unhappy, though.

"Do you need help with your bags?" Zayn asks, but I move faster than him and grab both Alexa's and Delilah's bags: of course they freaking need help with their bags!

I take them downstairs and stuff them over mine and Zayn's bags in the trunk. Then I climb into the backseat with Delilah. Her hand travels up to mine, placing her fingers between mine. She looks up at me, smiling for the first time today.

"I'm really happy you're here." she says to me quietly. I squeeze her hand a bit.

"I'm sure you're not half as happy as I am." I reply, because honestly, even if all this camping business is annoying, she's here, and I will get to see her beautiful face, and hear her lovely laugh and play with her hair and touch her soft body for a week. All in all, I'm pretty sure I'm happier than Thomas Edison was when he discovered electricity or even than the Americans were when they won the Independence War.
