I got off the bus, shouting a goodbye to Tracy.

I started approaching the shit-hole that is known as high school. Honestly, I hate school. The teachers don't really "teach" anything, they just hand out packets and play educational videos.

Plus all the people here are annoying. Except for one boy that I can't seem to shake out of my mind.

He's been rolling around in my thoughts ever since the moment I met him, and I don't even know his name yet!

Which that is number one on my list of priorities for the day: to get that boy's name.

I entered the school and headed towards my locker. A bunch of chicks tried to get my attention on the way there...just kidding! This isn't some bullshit teen movie where every girl is fawning over me. Well, they actually probably are but they don't chase after me like those sluts in those movies.

I was about to turn down a different hallway when I saw the mystery boy walking ahead of me with his head down.

I put on a lopsided smile as I approached him. "Hey." I said as I approached him, causing him to flinch and slam up against the wall, covering his head as he did so.

"Please don't-" he started to shout but I cut him off.

"Yo! Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you!" I told him as I backed away from him.

He slowly lowered his hands to look at me. "Oh," he said with a sigh. "It's just you..." He took a heavy breath before turning around and continuing walking the way he was.

I followed behind him. "Why do you freak out everytime I startle you?"

"I don't do that." He terribly argued as he turned a corner.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "Sure you don't."

He stopped causing me to almost run into him. He started turning a combination into a locker before stopping and turning to face me. "Umm...why are you still here?" He asked, not looking directly into my eyes.

I shrugged. "I just want to be around you."

"But we don't even know each other."

"That's because you haven't told me your name yet." I said to him.

He rolled his eyes. "Why do you want to know my name so bad?"

"Because it would be nice to know your name instead of just calling you 'kid' or whatever everytime I see you." I responded with a smirk.

He sighed. "My name's Carter." He said after a few seconds.

"And I'm Jesse." I said as I held out my hand. I saw him flinch for a slight second before regaining his posture and shaking my hand. His hand was soft, and small...I like it! It's cute. "So..." I trailed off as he turned back to his locker, entering his combination.

"So..." He said awkwardly as he started taking books out of his bag that was resting on his shoulder and replacing them with books from inside his locker.

"How are you?" I asked, not really knowing what to talk about. I mean, we don't really know each other. What are we supposed to talk about?

"If you're trying to stimulate a conversation, start with asking what my interest are. Then you tell me yours, and we'll see what we have in common." He suddenly said.

"Oh, ok. What are your interests?" I asked him.

He stopped putting his books in his locker for a second and just stared into his locker. "Mmm...I don't know actually." He looked thoughtful for a second before nodding and turning towards me with a small smile playing his lips. "I like to read."

"Oh." I replied as I nodded my head.

"And what are your interests?"

I thought about it for a moment. "I like to cook. And I also like to eat, does that count as an interest?" I asked as a joke, causing him to giggle lightly. His giggle made me smile, it was cute.

I was about to try and say something else funny when the homeroom bell rang. His eyes got wide. "I have to go!" He announced as he slammed his locker shut and ran.

"Wait!" I tried to call after him, but it was already too late since he had turned the corner.

I sighed and leaned against the lockers. I looked down at the ground to see a journal lying on the floor in front of Carter's locker. It must be his.

I bent down and picked it up before heading off to homeroom.

.....

I was now heading down to lunch and going to the lunch table that we sat at yesterday. When I got there, I saw Carter sitting there with his face in some sort of math book.

I sat down beside him to which he looked up. He sighed and closed the book for a second. "Look," he said. "What happened this morning can't happen again. We can be friends, I guess, but you can distract me from my schoolwork. I was late to homeroom this morning!"

"Did you get in trouble though?" I asked him, already knowing the answer.

"Well...no...but I could've gotten in trouble!" He said, causing me to roll my eyes. "The point is, you can't bother me in school like you did this morning." He didn't let me respond before his face was buried deep in his book again, his pencil scribbling down answers.

He really thinks I'm going to leave him alone? Ha, nope!

"Hey Carter!" I said, to which he just ignored me and continued to read.

"Carter! Hey Carter! Carter!" I sighed and started to poke his arm.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jacob carry Tim in and place him in a chair.

I sighed as I continued to poke Carter's arm. "Carter. Carter. Carter. Carter. Carter."

He just kept scribbling down answers and pretending I didn't exist. I tried to take his pencil from him, but I guess his grip is stronger than I thought because he would not let that thing go. I tried to take his book but he just pushed his arms down on top of it. Man, for someone as scrawny as him, he's strong.

I sighed as I started to poke his arm again. I was about to stop when Carter suddenly broke and yelled, "WHAT???" The whole tables attention was nod on us. "Why do you keep poking me? What do you want?"

I could tell he was angry. I mean, it was obvious. I guess I'll have to say something to make him blush or something like that. "I just wanted you to look at me. You talking to me was a bonus." I said, causing him to go pale instead of red like I expected.

I stared into his eyes for a few seconds and he stared into mine. I could feel myself being drawn to him, I could even feel myself moving forward. But I was suddenly pulled from my trance when he stood up, grabbing his stuff and running out of the cafeteria.

I sat there in a daze for a few seconds before recollecting myself and running after him. I ran out if the cafeteria and looked down the hallway. He was long gone. I sighed and leaned back against the wall.

"Holy shit, he's a fast runner."

.....
