After Carter had fallen asleep, I went downstairs and started watching TV.
I guess I had fallen asleep sometime while watching TV, because next thing I knew I was opening my eyes. I was about to sit up when I felt someone lying on top of me.
The person was smaller than me which made me immediately recognize that it was Carter. I smiled to myself and then wrapped my arms around him.
"You're awake." He suddenly said, lifting his head to meet my eyes.
I smiled at him. "Yeah, how long have you been up?" I asked him.
He shrugged. "An hour or so. It's 2:30 in the afternoon now."
I nodded my head in response. "I must've fallen asleep." I told him.
"You did." He said before laying his head back down on my chest. It was silent for a little before he spoke. "Do you want to hang out?" He asked.
I looked down at him again, which made him look up at me. "What do you want to do?"
He shrugged once more. "I'm not sure. I don't ever get to hang out... What can we do?" He asked.
I smiled at him. "Anything you want." I said before thinking over that statement and correcting myself. "Except go to parties, get drunk, and do drugs."
He smiled slightly before nodding his head. "Can we... Can we actually go to the theater...?" He asked, hesitantly.
I smiled and nodded my head. "Of course."
He smiled back at me and then stood up and stretched. I got off the couch and turned the TV off.
I walked to the entry way and slipped my shoes on, as did Carter. We opened the front door and stepped outside.
Carter looked around at the blue and bright sky before looking up at me. "Actually, can we do something outside? It's such a beautiful day out."
I smiled at him. "We can if you want to." I responded. I was actually very thankful that he asked that because I'd rather do something where I can talk to Carter over sitting in the dark, doing nothing.
.....
We approached the park after a few minutes of walking. We didn't talk the whole walk here, but it wasn't uncomfortable, it was actually very calming.
"What do you even do at a park?" He asked.
I looked down at him beside me. "You just play games. Or climb around on the playground. Or run around in the field. Honestly, there is so much stuff you can do at a park."
He looked around the place. "I want to play tag." He announced.
I don't really like tag that much, but I can tell he really wants to play it. I sighed. "Okay, tag it is. I'll be it first."
He stared at me.
"That means you run now." I told him. He nodded quickly before turning around and running towards the playground.
I counted to ten before I started chasing after him.
He quickly ran up the steps of the playground. I could tell he was headed for the slide so I ran to the bottom of the slide.
He was about to slide down when he noticed me at the bottom. He smirked. "You can't get me from down there, so I'll just sit here and wait for you to move somewhere else." He yelled down to me.
I smirked back at him. If he's not coming down, then I guess I'm going up. I stood on the end if the slide and started walking up it. His eyes widened as he scrambled to stand up.
He quickly turned and ran off the playground. I jumped off the side of the slide before chasing after him. He ran to the field, and I followed just steps behind him.
He may be a fast runner, but I've got longer legs. I reached my hand out and was inches from touching him, when he suddenly dropped to the ground and covered his head.
I tripped over him and landed face first into the grass. I flipped over and looked back to see him running away and laughing. I smiled slightly, even though my face hurt.
.....
"Man, I'm so smart! I let you get so close to me that you thought you could win, but then I just let you fall!" Carter explained before busting out in laughter.
I smirked. "Yeah, it was pretty clever."
We just got finished playing like an hour of tag, where I only tagged Carter once... And he got me back like two minutes later. Man, he's quick and clever.
We're now on the walk back home.
"Hey, I have something for you when we get back to your house." He suddenly said.
I gave him a confused look. He smiled. "You'll see." He said before grabbing my arm and kissing my cheek. He linked his arm into mine and started pulling me to walk faster.
We got back to the house in no time, and I barely had time to shut the front door before Carter started pulling me up the stairs.
He pulled me into my room and sat me down on the bed. He went over to his backpack and pulled out a flip-phone package.
He sighed as he handed it to me. "I know it's not the best but I got the one that I could afford. I also got a job so you don't have to worry about the phone bill, I'll take care-"
"What is this?" I asked, confused.
"It's a phone."
I chuckled. "I know that, but I meant... Why are you giving it to me?"
He stared at me for a few second before sighing. "It's sort of a thank you present, for everything that you've done for me."
I smiled. "That's very sweet! And I'm very thankful." I said as I grabbed him by his hips and pulled him until he was sitting on my lap, his knees resting on both sides of me. "But you know what would be an even better gift?" I asked.
He shyly smiled. "W-what?" He stuttered out while blushing.
I kissed his neck. "A kiss."
He giggled and then pulled his head back to meet my eyes. He smiled and then leaned forward and connected his lips to mine.
It was a very quick and soft kiss but it was amazing nevertheless.
I smiled as he pulled away. And then he asked me a question that I honestly didn't know how to answer.
"Are we boyfriends?"
.....
