Twenty-Four

P smiled at the results he was seeing. The female was a success. She was dependent on their blood. She didn't think about vampires without rage in her body. She was almost ready for her companion. The male was close to being finished. Once he was they would bring in a vampire civilian and see his reaction. He hoped the tests were conclusive. He wanted to release the pair into the vampire community and watch them reek havoc. He smiled as the male had received a new dose of their essence. He closed his eyes and listened to the screams. This was his best job yet.

He looked at his brothers. Matthew, and Darius as they helped him slip into his mating robes. Both had been married before. Matthew was married to the princess, Bianca, and they had twins. Darius was married to Phoenix. He felt at home. As he tied the sash around his waist, his father came in.
" You sure you are ready for this?" His father asked as he hugged him.
"As I'll ever be. I want to call her mine." Hunter replied to his father. "I love her so much. I know the timing isn't great but I think that it's the only time for this."
His father chuckled and smiled as the four of them walked through the mansion to the cleared out den for the ceremony. Beth was there with his mother, Nallas mother, and a few others he didn't really know. Phoenix, Nalla's sister was there and all attention turned to the stairs as Nalla began to come into view. The gown she wore was emerald green with black lace over the top. He loved it. It was her. Beautiful and delegate at the same time. When she reached him Phury came forward and began the ceremony. He repeated what was said to him without taking his eyes or mind off Nalla. When the ceremony was finished, his brother Darius, stepped forward and helped him take off his robe. He kneeled in front of Nalla and waited with his breath held for the first sting of the cuts began. With each letter he kneeled there without moving. When it was finished and the salt rubbed into the cuts was he allowed to stand and approach his wife. She had tears in her eyes as he grabbed her face and kissed her. He forgot everyone around them as he held her kissed her and consouled her.
"Shh... I'm here. I'm okay. I love you." He whispered into her ear.
" You are in pain. Let me tend to you. Come, I'll tend your back." She whispered into his ear.

Butch watched his son and daughter in law head up the stairs to their room. The way his son treated her just then almost made him cry. He hugged onto Marissa and just felt complete. She kissed his cheek and she smiled down at her.
"They really are good together." She said as they headed to their own room.
" They are. I just hope this threat holds off for the night. I would hate to have to interrupt them." He said as Vishous approached them.
" You dont have to. His powers did already. Z and Rhage are tailing him. We need to suit up and follow. Whatever it is, it set his powers off. Marissa, go check on Nalla." Vishous said as they both ran for the weapon closet inside the main hall.

Nalla was scared. Hunter told her to stay put and then left. Without telling her what it was or what was happening he just left. She sat on their bed in sweat pants and a tank top trying not to cry. The door opened and Marissa and her mother came in.
"Whsts going on? Why did he take off like that?" She demanded of them.
" His powers detect Lessers. He felt something and took off. Let's get you into the bunker with the other women and children. We all need to be safe." Bella told her as they helped her stand and led her from the room, "The bunker enterance underground is sadly malfunctioning and we need to use the ground entrance. It should be safe for now. Let's go out the servants enterance into the house."
They exit the mansion under Bella and her directions. As they carefully make their way through the yard, they hear sounds of fighting through the air. It makes her nervous. The sound of a gunshot told her someone had a gun. The burning pain I'm her shoulder told her something had hit her. Her vision immediately went fuzzy and she felt herself falling to the ground. Her mother came to her aid and rushed her into the bunker where Jane was currently waiting for news.
" Whatever you do save my baby." Nalla said before she gave in and passed out.

One or two chapters to go until the end I think. It was hard writing this chapter as I always hurting a character I've come to be close with. I hope this chapter was as good as I thought it was.
