What Words Really Mean
Through the years, these common, every-day words' definitions have evolved. A LOT.
1. Studying
Then: To devote time and attention to acquiring knowledge on (an academic subject), especially by means of books.
Now: The act of texting, eating, and watching TV with an open text book nearby.
2. Friend
Then: A person who has a strong liking for and trust in another person
Now: One of the many strangers on Facebook.
3. Willpower
Then: The faculty by which a person decides on and initiates action.
Now: Getting up in the Morning.
4. Tomorrow
Then: On the day after today.
Now: The best time to do everything you had planned on doing today.
5. Secret
Then: Not known or seen or not meant to be known or seen by others.
Now: Something you tell everybody to tell nobody.
6. Feet
Then: The lower extremity of the vertebrate leg that is in direct contact with the ground in standing or walking.
Now: A device used for finding legos in the dark.
7. Irony
Then: A state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
Now: Drawing Tree on paper.
8. Disappointment
Then: The feeling of sadness or displeasure caused by the nonfulfillment of one's hopes or expectations.
Now: Receiving no comments or likes on a pretty instagram selfie of yourself when you're having a really good hair day.
9. Internet.
Then: The global communication network that allows almost all computers worldwide to connect and exchange information.
Now: The reason why you're failing class.
10: Eating
Then: To put (food) into the mouth and chew and swallow it.
Now: When there is nothing else to do.
