Hello again everyone! I'm back with another rant. I've been reading a lot of books on wattpad lately and I've there's something strange I've noticed about them, especially the romance ones. It's a little detail but it's rather strange...
Why does nobody take a shower? Or if they do, they take one, like, every two minutes?
Seriously.
The girl wakes up, takes a shower. The girl goes to the store, comes back, and takes a shower. The girl eats a bagel, and takes a shower. The girl blinks, she takes a shower.
She most have the worst skin by now!
Then there is the other side of the spectrum where she doesn't take one at all. Those romance scenes in the book wouldn't really be that romantic, seeing as how she must smell like a port-a-potty by now or something. Gross.
I also find it annoying when the author describes the shower in more detail than they do characters. Like this:
I scrub my face with a light pink cloth using my yummy, coconut smelling soap which came out of a creamy colored bottle that was a round shape. I let the shampoo squirt into my hand until it was the size of a quarter. I then rubbed my hands together and ran them through my long, wavy, coffee colored hair, soaping the curls until a light layer of lather had formed along it.
I ran my fingers along the froth and rubbed it into my hair, trying to get the layer near the base of my neck. The coconutty smell washed over me and I sighed as I took it in with a long sniff. Steam curled in tendrils around me and blah, blah, blah, blah.
Me by the time I finish reading this chapter: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
If you don't get what I mean, I will put it plainly, I'm bored.
Girl, nobody cares about the kind of shampoo you use. Nobody wants to waste an house reading about the color of your towel or the smell of your soap. I. Do. Not. Give. A. Flip. I can live a very long, happy life without knowing that. Please save your time and energy for writing something somebody will actually read and care about.
Thank you.
