A Childhood Struggle (Somewhat Serious, Somewhat Petty)

You know what's annoying? This is something I've been thinking recently as it happened a lot to me as a kid.

So, the tale begins when you are cute and adorable and are walking through the store with your mom and "adorable" baby sister. You are innocently walking around looking at the syrup bottles in the shape of some old lady when a REAL old lady comes up to your mom's buggy.

You roll your eyes. The last thing you want is an old lady pinching your cheek and calling you adorable and all that when she turns to your blonde headed baby sister and exclaims, "Oh! Her hair, it's so pretty! She's so precious!"

You just stand there stunned as she walks away.

Hey, gramps, I'm beautiful too!!

When I was about three my mother had another baby girl. As she grew older, her hair grew long and blonde and as many people told her, "pretty". I, myself, having brown hair, didn't think it was such a big deal but everytime we went someplace, everyone would fuss over how beautiful her hair was. Me and my older red haired sister would just stand there, silently fuming. It annoyed my mom too.

The problem was solved when my mom braided her hair but it still leaves me wondering about all the other children in the world with "adorable" younger siblings and such. Just a note to everyone out there reading this, if your a random complimentor, compliment EVERYONE, not just one person.

The same thing happens at school, I'm sure. One girl compliments another girl's shirt but totally just leaves the rest of the girl's in the vicinity hanging. Just please be nice people!!
