2,441 miles.

did I forget to mention that I am deathly afraid of heights and I almost passed out once when I was five because we took a flight to Disney World?

I was hyperventilating so much the flight attendant thought I was possessed.

I'm not even joking. This is the very reason I do not ride roller coasters and request for a lower floor room when I stay in hotels. I hate—no, despise heights.

I guess the fact that we would be thousands of miles high in the air never really crossed my mind until we got on the plane.

Our flight left at 9pm and literally 10 seconds later Wes fell asleep. It is currently 9:27 and I am freaking out. I really don't want to wake Wes up because he's so adorable when he's sleeping.

Frantically I look around the plane and rub my suddenly clammy hands together.

"hey are you alright?"

I look over to the sound of the voice which came from the guy sitting next to me. I practically jump out of my skin because I though he was asleep too.

"uh, ye-yeah I'm alright"

he lets out a soft careless chuckle as if the thought of being a gazillion miles up in the air isn't the most unsettling thing in the world.

"You sure about that? You seem a little fidgety"

He cracks me a half smile and removes an earbud that was previously stuck in his ear and offers it to me.

"here, this might help"

Trying to prevent my hand from shaking I accept the earbud from his hand and utter a soft thanks before tucking my hair behind my ear and putting the bud in.

After a few moments of silence the lyrics kick in and register in my brain.

"no freaking way"

I can feel the smile creeping on my face.

"You like this song too?"

he looks back at me from his previous view outside the window. And gives me a half grin.

"Yeah. My girlfriend got me hooked on it"

I smile and laugh.

"I like her already, she has really good taste in music. What's she like?"

He smiles the biggest smile I've seen him have since I first started talking to him. I can even see his eyes light up while he talks about her.

"we've been dating for five years now. I'm actually on my flight to New York to surprise her"

He says and then I see his smile falter a little.

"Things have been getting pretty rough, the long distance thing, you know?"

I gulp silently but nod my head.

"She's definitely worth it. No one in my life has made me feel like she does. I would take a flight everyday to school and back to her if that's what it took."

I smile.

"That's so sweet"

he nods his head and smiles again.
