"Talia Morrison, just what do you think you're doing? Get off your sorry excuse for an ass and put it in some cute clothes because we are going to be late!"
I freeze mid bite and look over to Laura who is frantically waving her arms at me. I put the strawberry back in the tray and get off of my spot on the couch.
I sigh and walk past her to the stairs.
"By the way, that comment about my ass was very rude and unnecessary."
I proceed walking up the stairs but don't miss hearing her say,
"But true!"
I roll my eyes and walk into the direction of my closet. I decide I'd rather just be comfortable since it's nearing winter and I'd rather not freeze my ass off just to look cute to impress a bunch of people I don't like.
I slip on some leggings and throw on one of Coles football sweaters that he left here. At least I'm showing school spirit. I decide on my black vans and grab my phone and a few dollars before returning back downstairs.
"I said put on something cute not something that shows how depressed you are because your boyfriend is halfway across the country"
I arch and eyebrow.
"My boyfriend is halfway across the country"
She scoffs and rolls her eyes like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Duh! But you don't have to dress like you've been staying at home all day even though you have. You need a makeover!"
I groan and grab the car keys before tossing them her way. She catches them even though I caught her off guard.
"Not today Laur. Let's just go we'll miss the first quarter"
I say already heading out the door. It was the last game of the season. Our Preston high panthers are facing the Lakeview Lions for the championship. We were so far undefeated besides one tie game.
Cole and I had become really great friends over the last few months and he has been keeping me company while Wes has been gone. And no not that kind of company. He knows I'm dating Wes and not interested in him that way, and I know that he has a crush on my best friend even though he is still reluctant to admit it.
It's been two months today, and Wes returns in two days. I couldn't wait to see him because it feels like it's been an eternity since I've seen him last. We have been face timing and texting and all that but it's just not the same.
Soon enough we get to the game and it's already in full swing. The bands are playing and the teams are already starting to warm up even though the game doesn't start for another half hour.
"Well I gotta go, I need to start warming up with my girls."
I nod and bid her farewell and toss her her cheer uniform before she forgets.
She smiles at me in appreciation before jogging off to the direction of the girls locker rooms.
I catch sight of Cole talking to someone else on the team who I can't name because their back is towards me. I decide to approach him to wish him good luck.
"Hey Cole"
The unknown player turns to look at me and I recognize him immediately.
"Brody, hey!"
He nods in my direction.
"Sup Talia. Well I got to talk to Claire before the game so I'll see you bud"
