"um, yeah can we get some knives to break the ice?"
Cole says to the waitress sarcastically. She smiles and laughs a little. I could tell she thought Cole was cute and it was actually quite disgusting to see her fawning over him.
"He's joking. We'll call you back when we are ready to order"
I said. She dropped her smile and nodded her head before leaving the table. I didn't know whether to be happy she was gone or dwell in the fact that there was nothing to speak about now.
I was sitting in a booth and on one side it was Tyler, me and Cason, and on the other it was Cole, Wes, and Laura. If you can't add, that equals one hell of an awkward situation.
"I think I liked it better when I was in a coma"
I said trying to lighten the mood.
"Talia!"
Laura squealed. Cole just laughed and I tried to resist joining in.
"Too soon?"
She gave me a dirty look and I smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry! Sorry. Not funny."
Tyler leaned over to reach for something under the table.
"I kinda got you a little gift"
I furrow my brows.
"You do know this isn't a birthday party right?"
He rolls his eyes.
"Just open it"
I take the box from him and unwrap it. When I see what's inside im confused.
"You got me a... helmet?"
He smiles sheepishly.
"It's really good quality. Doesn't give you headaches and will sit comfortably on your head"
He takes it from my grasp and places it on my head.
"So now if you ever find yourself riding a motorcycle again you'll be prepared."
I laugh and take the helmet off my head.
"Thanks but I doubt I'll ever ride a motorcycle for as long as I live. The last time I did, it didn't end well"
We all share a really awkward laugh. I look over to Wes and he looks kind of annoyed but I don't understand why.
"Well I think we should all just get some milkshakes or something"
I say. Cason nods his head.
"Im down for that"
Laura rolls her eyes.
"That's because you are in love with milkshakes. It's basically your blood. To be completely honest I think you love milkshakes more than you ever loved me"
She says with a small laugh. Cason returns her laugh.
"Can't argue there"
He replies back. Laura rolls her eyes and I can see Cole getting a little tense. It was good to see that Laura and Cason could still be friends after their breakup but I could tell Cole was uneasy by it.
Laura called over the waitress.
"Hi, can we get three chocolate milkshakes,"
She looks at Tyler.
"Chocolate"
He says.
