"so... are you ready?"
Wes asks as if i wasn't the one standing at the door for the past half our waiting for him to get ready.
I look down at my watch.
"Ive been ready for the last forty minutes. Honestly, sometimes it's like I'm the man in this relationship"
He laughs and shakes his head before taking my hand in his. He places a kiss on my forehead and when he leans in I smell a whiff of cologne off him.
"You smell really nice"
I state. He just laughs.
"Thanks babe. Let's go"
He opens the door and allows me to walk through first, my hand never leaving his. We walk down the halls of the hotel and eventually we are outside.
"Where's the car? I swear I called Steve—"
Wes looks around worriedly.
"Don't worry, I canceled it"
He looks down at me, confusion etched across his features.
"Why would you do that?"
I pull at his hand and he continues walking with me down the stone path.
"I thought we could walk, it's more sentimental and romantic this way"
I say with a grin. He smiles.
"Didn't peg you as a girl who enjoys walks"
I almost snort.
"Oh trust me, I don't. And I'm sure by the end of it I'll heavily regret it along my choice of footwear"
I say looking down at my heels in disgust. I sigh and we continue walking.
"This is nice. It's kinda freaking me out"
Wes looks over at me. My height is significantly higher due to my heels so the height difference isn't really that noticeable.
"What? It's normal suddenly not okay?"
He asks, clearly amused. I laugh softly.
"No it's not that. Normal is great. I just... forgot what it felt like to be happy you know?"
He looks at me and smiles brightly.
"So, you're happy?"
I return his smile with a goofy grin.
"Yeah. You make me happy wes"
He stops walking and pulls my face the short distance to his and places a kiss on my lips. It was short but sweet and sent tingles down the back of my spine when he let go.
"Good. Because all I've ever wanted was to make you happy."
We continue walking and I almost laugh at the irony. I was going to comment on how he had a funny way of doing that but I decided not to bring up our past. Tonight was a night focused solely on our future. And I was determined to ensure we had one together.
"Well this is it!"
I point over to the small boulangerie. It was elegant and soft, the perfect place for a nice dinner without overdoing it.
I smile excitedly. I love Paris and all the friken cute stuff in it. I really couldn't handle how overjoyed I was. I looked at wes bright eyed for his opinion.
"Cute"
He says. I smile even brighter.
"I know, isn't it?!"
