Where I learn the mate bond never existed at all. Which I totally called but still didn't stop me from being pissed off. Also I learn what being a mate really means.

It didn't take long for the men in white jackets to come and pick Damien up. Fergus and I had watched with small smiles as he was wrapped in a straitjacket and put into the back of a van. It was almost poetically just. As soon as the door closed Gus wrapped his arms around me and lifted me up, dancing me around in the air while cheering.
"Easy, Gus!" I laughed at his antics before he set me down and inhaled deeply.
"Patricia can rest now." He looked peaceful as he closed his eyes. I bumped my shoulder against him, nudging him slightly.
"You can too. Revenge is a very tiring business." I winked at him, shoving my hands into my pockets. I glanced around and the werewolves looked a little lost. Vince strode over to us, my eyes took in his sculpted form and I resisted the urge to shiver.
My hormones were gunna get me into some delightful trouble.
"Thank god you are okay." Vince moved until he was standing in front of me, his hand reaching up to trace around the outside of the bruise. A low growl rumbled his chest at the sight of it.
"I take offense to that." Fergus blew a strand of his hair out of his face and smirked at the Beta. Vince's hand dropped from my cheek and I missed the contact almost immediately.
"No offense meant, Fergus." Vince nodded at him and Fergus shrugged slightly. He tugged on the straps to his lederhosen as he glanced at me, his eyes twinkling.
"None taken. She's a handful." He shoved at me lightly and my face flared red. I suddenly found my feet interesting as I avoided their faces.
"So, what is Sasha going to do?" Vince seemed to reach towards me before his hand dropped again, his hand clenching into a fist. "With her bond to-"
"No bond." Gus sounded amused and my head snapped up at that. What was he going on about?
"What?" Vince seemed just as confused as I was. I stared at Fergus. I knew there was no bond deep down but to hear someone say it out loud was nearly mind blowing.
"Damien saw her at a coffee shop and kidnapped her on her way to a McDonald's." Fergus gave a short laugh, as if the entire situation was hilarious. I resisted the urge to punch his perfectly muscular arm. I was seriously hating how gorgeous werewolves were.
"He said-"
"He's crazy. They never exchanged blood or had sex. There is no bond." Gus seemed overly pleased by this and as I glanced at Vince he blinked slowly before looking at me and shaking his head as if in disbelief.
"You know I am seriously pissed off you didn't tell me sooner, Gus." I was. Despite the fact I knew there hadn't been a bond, it would have been nice to have that clarified.
"It is more fun this way." He wrapped an arm around my shoulder before he started to lead me away. "Vince, you make sure everything is in order before I get back. Sasha needs to go home." My heart leapt into my throat at the news and I hugged Gus tightly, burying my face into his drool worthy chest.
"Easy, tiger. Come on." He urged me towards the car he kept on hand. I glanced back, locking eyes with Vince for a second before he shook his head again and turned away. I felt a bit disappointed at it but I fought it down. I was going home that was all that mattered.
I got into the car and after a moment Gus got into the driver's seat as I did up my seat belt. Within moments we were driving down the driveway. My heart thumped in my chest at the prospect of going home, of seeing my family again.
"So for mates, do you just choose someone?" The question came out rather quickly and Gus chuckled.
"Kind of. Technically a werewolf has many potential mates. Could be a hundred or even a thousand." His focus was on the road and I tried to process it. After being told there was only one mate for everyone, learning the truth was a bit more difficult to process.
"Well how does it work then?" I had spent a month with a guy claiming he was my 'mate'. I wanted to know how it worked.
"A werewolf mate potential is identified by their smell. Once the smell is taken in, a werewolf's own pheromones is released. Its called a mating pheromone because it makes the two people want to bone." He made a lewd gesture and I laughed loudly and he followed suit. "Like it sparks an incredible urge to touch or hold or have sex." I nodded, that made sense.
"When you bond, so have sex and exchange a blood bond. You become mates." He let out a sigh and I reached over, touching his forearm in sympathy.
"When they die does it mean you can't have others?" I was curious about it. Gus's mate was dead and so was Vince's. Did it make them have to stay celibate for the rest of their lives? Cause thar would suck.
"A mating is like a marriage. So you can have more than one. Basically its our bodies telling us to go forth and multiply. Some werewolves choose not to take other mates and some go through many." He shrugged and I let out a sigh. Pity Vince had looked away. I wanted his body to tell him to go forth and multiply. Preferably with me.
"Thank you for letting me go home." I squeezed his forearm and he patted my hand with a smile.
"No problem, Sash. Alaska isn't where you belong." He gave me a somber nod and I blinked in shock. Alaska.
"I'm in fucking Alaska?" That would explain the fucking marathon of a car ride I had after being kidnapped.
"Yes. You didn't know?" He looked almost amused and I scowled at him.
"Peanuts McGee had me handcuffed and refused to tell me anything. How would I know?" I watched as he gave a slow nod.
"Fair point."
The rest of the ride was fairly silent as we were both lost in our own worlds. I don't know what Gus was thinking about but I was imagining one hunky man coming to sweep me off my feet.
I doubted I would be able to date anymore after seeing all those gorgeous werewolves. They were top of the shelf and prime examples of men. Drool worthy. I had to admit that was one of the only good things about the whole kidnapping.
The car stopped on a rather secluded air strip and Gus got out and I followed suit. There was a small airplane already on the runway and Gus came over and hugged me tightly.
"I couldn't have done it without you, Sasha." He let out a heavy sigh and I tried to force the tears back but it was useless.
"Thanks for helping me out!" I held him tightly and he slowly pulled himself out of my embrace before patting my shoulder.
"If you are ever in Alaska. Look me up." He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and shoved it into my hand. I looked at the address before tearing the blank bottom off of it. I held out my hand expectantly and he handed me a pen. I write my address down and shoved it into hsi pocket.
"If you are ever in my area. Look me up. That goes for Vince as well. Dude is hot." I winked at him, trying to ignore the disappointment that rolled through me at the fact I never got to say goodbye.
"I will pass on the message." He had an almost calculative look in his eyes before he pointed to the plane. "That will take you across the border. No stops until the next small air strip so no need for a passport." He pulled out an envelope before handing it over. I glanced at the lederhosen. How many pockets did that thing have?
"When you get to the air strip, rent a car and go home. Your family must miss you." He hugged me once more and I nodded. Wiping away the tears but mindful of the bruise.
"Thanks, Gus!" I backed away from him before moving over to the plane where the pilot nodded at me.
I was going home... Hardest part was I needed to figure out how to explain what happened to my parents.
Fuck.
