------------chapter 2.5------------
Isa's PoV
I fell to my knees, watching my dad as he lay on the floor unconscious. A medical team frantically washed away the blood, leaving what seemed like injuries caused by stones.
I wanted to help save him, but I couldn't. I wanted to stand up and help Marcus, but I couldn't leave my father like this. I couldn't do anything for either of them.
Seconds seemed to slow down as I watched dad suffer. Every second, I worried about what would happen right then and there. Every drop of blood that poured out of his wounds seemed like it would be the fatal drop.
----------------------------
A few days later
I stood in front of the bed, watching over his motionless body. His eyes were open, randomly moving around the room as they had been for the past five minutes. Finally they focussed on me.
"Go.. Get.. Some sleep.." He muttered.
Alarm bells rung in my head. He wasn't supposed to be exerting himself in any way.. He was one of the only people in the camp who was given the privilege of a bed- simply because his condition was that critical. He was being given fourteen injections a day and he needed his rest.
"Stop," I said, with a glaring at him. "You need your rest."
He let out a chuckle, wincing in pain as he did so. "I'm fine."
He tried another attempt at covering his suffering up with a chuckle, finally passing out from the exertion.
It was a good sign. If he was unconscious, at least he wouldn't end up killing himself from overexertion..
My thoughts started to drift back to Marcus. Why wasn't he here with me? He knew I'd need him to get through a time like this. That I need him at all times- good or bad.
But for some reason he wasn't here.
Did he somehow cause the incident with my father?
I struck the thought out of my mind as soon as it entered. He couldn't have! Marcus wasn't that kind of guy.
But that didn't change the fact that he wasn't helping me through these hard times.
I leaned my head against the wall.
"Why aren't you here Marcus?"
At that very moment, I heard the sound of someone entering the tent. I turned around, expecting to find Marcus, but what I saw instead surprised me.
It was Marcus's mom.
