------------start of chapter 4------------

Marcus's PoV

"That can't be true! There's no way he could destroy all of them without using nuclear warheads! And if he did, the fallout would kill him as well."

The chief looked gravely back at us. "This information was given by our recon squad who have detected no radiation levels at all."

We all were stunned. Such mass destruction without nuclear warhead usage? How??

"But-" the chief continued, "the bodies seem to be consistent with radioactive damage."

Silence spread across the room. How was this even possible? Radiation injuries without residual radiation?

My mind flashed back to the video. The nuclear warheads. Everyone had been focusing on the president's "robosapyent army"

More importantly, on one line."watching mass death from the safety of my room"

Everyone had thought it was a reference to his robosapyent army. But it wasn't. It was a reference to his nuclear weapons.

I had to tell them. This was insane. Nobody in their right mind would believe this. But it was the only possible explanation to what had happened.

"Sir. I think I have information on this," I said, standing up, pulling the pen drive out of my right pocket and gripping it in my hand.

A few minutes earlier

A girl picked herself up off the ground, dusting herself off.

She turned around to see two policemen above her, frowning at her.

"Who are you? And why are you here?"

"I'm Anya Sparks. Daughter of police chief Sparks. And I have an important message for him."

She leaned in and whispered into the ear of one of the policemen.

His eyes grew wide. "Only three cities left?"

He sunk to his knees. "How?"

"That's not important. What's important is that you go in there and give them the information so they can use it to plan."

Fifteen minutes later Marcus's PoV

"So what do we do now?" A person sitting at the table asked.

"We go through the city of Columbus." The chief replied.

A series of gasps were heard from around the table. Several members raised their hands to object, but the chief silenced them.

"According to our intelligence, there are only three cities which haven't been reduced to rubble. New York City, Miami and Columbus. With this few reinforcements, it'd be wrong of us not to try and get every single person available to help us. And to do that, we need to go through Columbus."

"It's a trap!" One man at the table shouted.

The police chief looked down at his feet.

I knew that look. He didn't know what he was doing.

Columbus could be a trap. But we were going in anyways.
