------------chapter 3.25 starts here------------
Jake's PoV
"And what do we have here?"
I stared back up at the policeman above me. Was there a way to escape from the tent? There were hundreds of policemen in this tent. All he had to do was call them.
"A spy?" He continued.
"No," I replied, showing my empty hands to him in an attempt to convince him I wasn't dangerous.
"Well then?"
"I'm a friend of Marcus's. I saw a suspicious looking girl enter through the roof of the tent and I followed her into here."
The guard pointed down towards a girl sitting down on a bench. "This girl?"
-----------------------------
I stood outside the tent wondering how she could get away like that. It was over.
Or was it?
I couldn't just let her go could I?
If she was a spy, I'd regret it. If she wasn't a spy and just a cool girl, I'd REALLY REGRET IT.
I warmed up my hands and grabbed onto one of the poles supporting the tent. I was going in after her.
----------------------------
"This girl?"
It was her.
"Yes."
The girl spoke.
"Well it doesn't matter. The thing is you broke into the tent, and that's an offence in itself. I guess we don't have to hold you here since we know your intentions, but you have to admit, keeping you here would be so much more fun."
And with that, she raised a challenging eyebrow.
An open challenge from a girl. She was measuring my ability. I had to find a way to escape now.
"So what's your name?" I asked in an attempt to stall. This would buy me some time to think about an escape route.
The closest edge of the tent was about fifteen feet towards my left. I could make a break for it, but I'd never make it. Not with both of them chasing me.
"Anya."
It was an interesting name for sure. Not one I'd really heard much before. What was it? Russian?
I mentally slapped myself. I was supposed to be trying to find a way out of here. I had to keep myself focussed here.
"Do I get a last name?"
"If you can make me tell you."
"Well let's see if I can't." I replied, smiling as I walked towards her.
I lifted my right hand, reaching towards her face. Before I could even reach within a foot of it, she grabbed my wrist with her right hand and my elbow with her left, looking to twist my arm behind my back.
It was over already. But the end was not the one she had planned.
I moved towards the left, using her force like a slingshot, launching myself towards the edge of the tent. Ten feet, five feet, two feet.
I dropped to my bottom, sliding underneath the side of the tent. As soon as my face passed underneath the edge of the tent, I dug my right shoe into the ground, using it as a lever to launch myself into the air. I landed on my legs, sprinting away from the tent.
I didn't know when it'd count as winning the challenge, but I didn't stop or turn. I was determined to win this one.
