------------chapter 4.1 starts here------------

Anya's PoV

I could only peek out from underneath the tent as Jake ran off into the distance. "Not bad." I said before looking back at the policeman behind me.

"Tom." I thought, correcting myself. I knew all the policemen working under my dad and was expected to refer to them on a first name basis.

Tom still had an expression of awe on his face. Rightly so. Not many people could escape me when I wanted to catch them.

To use my own moves against me. Incredible. And the way he was able to make it to his feet with such fluidity  after sliding under the edge of the tent must have required years of practice.

"Do you think we should talk to the chief and catch him?" Tom asked nervously, interrupting my thoughts..

It was a question, yet somehow it wasn't. Well, sure he had asked me, but I knew he didn't think the police had any chance in capturing this man.

"No I think he's alright. Besides the chief has bigger matters to deal with. I guess we can just leave him for now."

I picked up my knife which had fallen into the floor and leaned over to the right, sliding it into the back of my light blue and orange boot.

And then I jumped onto a table, boosting myself four feet into the air and then grabbing onto the roof of the tent. Using a fair bit of energy, I hoisted myself into the roof.

"Do you have to do that? It's not safe." Tom called out from beneath me.

"It's more fun this way!" I shouted back to him.

As I did, a small white pellet fell out of my hair onto the roof of the tent. It seemed to be a folded piece of paper. As I unraveled it, the message inside made me chuckle.

"1-1. The score's level"

How did that get in my hair though? Was it when he reached towards my face? Even then, I should have been able to notice it.

I would have to ask him when I found him.

I took off, running across the tent into the distance, in the direction that Jake had disappeared. This wasn't over just yet.

I might have told the police to leave Jake, but that didn't mean I'd leave him.

------------end of chapter 4.1------------
